My buddy who was working the bar asked Wellwood if he should be drinking and he responded he was just there to get the Maple Leafs drunk and messed up for Saturday. He seemed the most comfortable with the Leafs, and when we offered to buy him a beer for that goal he almost scored the other night (what .6 secs too late right?), Stajan and Orr were pissed that we were buying him a drink for a goal that didn't even count.
The best part of the whole night was when the bar was shutting down and the group of Canucks and Leafs were trying to figure out where they wanted to go next. Raymond suggested Republic (a club down on Granville) and one of the Leafs I didn't recognize said he didn't want to wait in line. Then Schenn joked, "We're the Maple Leafs, lets just put on some hats with the logo on it and skip the line." The kicker is, then Excelby was all like, "We haven't even won a game boys, they won't let us in BECAUSE we're the Maple Leafs." They were pretty buzzed at this point so it was more joking than anything.
Highlight of my week for sure, thought a little glimpse into how these guys are just regular people be neat, living downtown I see the team tons, I've met Burrows four or five times around my apartment building but actually hearing two teams shoot the *$#& with each other was kinda cool. Oh and apparently Excelby left the best tip

Which is why its the kicker...neither of them were serious, they were all pretty buzzed and joking around at that point. If I could give ya the intonation it might make a bit more sense. I was trying not to laugh when Excelby made his comment, the bar staff didn't hold back though...jabbing them all night. All in good fun.
brother I don't go onto forums to prove anything, as you can see I've hardly ever even used this account, I just wanted to share a story with CDC as I read quite a bit of material on here...just haven't really ever had the urge/want to post. I think it was enough that I was practically stalking them once I knew they were down there lol
