I don't mind Cheechoo. At worst he is still big enough to be a grinder in the 4th line. At best he regain his skills and score some goals for us.

SOB seems to hate AV. Don't think he will be back.

The Gauthier guy is huge but can he skate?

Another guy they should invite is Rob Schremp. This guy got some crazy hands.

I also don't mind trying out Nikolai Zherdev.

Also invite veterans like Michael Nylander, Alexei Kovalev and Cory Stillman and see if they got anything left in the tank.

Wow Cheechoo still doesn't have a contract, that's amazing it wasn't that long ago this guy was leading the NHL in goals. If he is without a contract I agree it would be worth giving him a camp invite. We could always sign him for cheap and waive him if it doesn't work out.

I like the idea of Cheech. No to O'Brien (unless we were to give up one of our defenseman...) probably not going to happen. Gauthier is an interesting player, but he doesn't bring toughness, he brings roughness.

Doing a little cap space checking I came to the conclusion that keeping cap space to "make" an offer is not the way to go now. The need for teams to make the floor of the cap has caused some teams to offer higher salaries to players. So this is how we can make that work for us.

Ballard..love him but AV doesnt. Ballard is 4.2..either Islanders or preds(depending on webers hit) could realy use some floor help. Ballard is at least close to his worth so they would probabaly trade some 4th-7th round picks for him. this would give us 8+mil in cap space. this opens up a world of RFA' possibilies. Players who are worth the picks for the offer sheets.

Drew Doughty...Kings would have to hit ceiling to match if offer done right (after Gagne signing)

Stamkos....Lightning in a really tough spot..so surpised not atleast one offer on him yet

Parise and Weber tied up for the moment, but space could be used for trade later

By moving Ballard to a team needing the Floor..we could make an offer to a RFA to put us through the ceiling

Right now Ballard is worth more on our roster then if he was traded. Everyone who wanted to overpay already did and I believe Ballard will be a top four dman for us this year. He had a tough year (injuries) and the lack of confidence from the coaching staff took a toll on Ballard.

Ballard is not going to get traded... Canucks have invested a pretty hardcore program to make sure he comes into camp where they want him...
