So the Sens are blowing it up, and apparently no one is safe from trades. Quick questions, are there any players in their system that are worth taking before the deadline?

Lets just run with what we got for now
English Bob: A plague on you. A plague on the whole stinking lot of ya, without morals or laws. And all you whores got no laws. You got no honor. It's no wonder you all emigrated to America, because they wouldn't have you in England. You're a lot of savages, that's what you all are. A bunch of bloody savages. A plague on you. I'll be back.

exactly. Ruutu is affordable and valuable to a playoff team. But i think that's about it. I wouldn't want anyone else. Even Jarkko is too expensive for the nucks. I say don't bugger with chemistry - no deadline deals.

Ruutu is just a little too dirty for my liking personally. I don't see him fitting in with the team we have now, I'd question the move if we went after him.

9MM comes with a 4 year, $4.3M price tag. That's definitely more Gillis would like to pay a guy who has underperformed on multiple offensively minded teams. Now, i'll give him that he does talent and speed, but it's still quite a risk for that price tag. A quick look through their roster, and other than the rookies there isn't really a whole lot. Foligno would be nice, but I doubt he'll go cheap. Ruutu might help the 4th line gain some consistency, but it really doesn't help the 4th line in their quest for a centre. Winchester isn't bad, I think he would be a good addition to the 4th line and give them a bit more size and grit. Regin would be nice, but like Foligno, he wont be going cheap. I'd be interested to see if Regin would have any chemistry with fellow Dane; Hansen.

I just don't see a piece in Ottawa that the Canuck's could really use and be able to obtain. Foligno is the player I would like. Good potential upside on this guy and with some guidance, he could easily fit the Kesler mold. Regin could definitely benefit from some mentoring from Samuellsson, Kesler and/or Malhotra and could become quite talented also. Just depends what Murray will let them go for. (More than a song, I can tell you that for sure.)

I'd take Alfie for Raymond+ if there was a way to fit him under the cap. Same goes for Fisher.

srsly though, if the mods want to merge it or w/e it is no biggie.

technically my thread is about who CDCers would want to see from the Sens in Van.

I might take a flyer on Matt Carkner if I was MG.

He shouldn't be too expensive (maybe a mid-round pick), has another year at 700k and would be the legitimate tough guy who can actually play that the team currently lacks.
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Always been a fan of alfredsson, definatly couldn't afford him. although he might look pretty good beside kes

D. SEDIN - H. SEDIN - BURROWS
ALFREDSSON - KESLER - SAMUELSSON

Raymond is so frustrating. The wheels, the intention, the drive; it's all there. It always feels as if it's too early to give up on him. On the other heand, Alfredsson definitely brings great leadership, most likely compatible with the rest of the team.

I'm at university in Ottawa so I get to watch the Sens play quite often. Alfie's still a decent player but he's well past his prime and he's now a half step behind the play so we wouldn't want him even if he was cheap which he obviously isn't.

The sens have some decent prospects in Cowen and Rundblad but both are untouchable. I'd also say that Karlsson and Fisher would be safe from trades.

Aside from any of the aforementioned players I wouldn't want any of the Sens players. Many of them are old and past their prime and the rest are all on ridiculous contracts.

What about Foligno. not signed to a horrible contract.

Just watched a highlight of Sopel on Sportsnet this morning and it brought back memories of Sopes being required in 07 at the trade deadline for the playoff run.

Say M.Gillis takes the Nonis approach and decides to reward the fans with a bit of nostalgia by going on the hunt for an ex-Canuck who is currently playing in the NHL as of 2011.

Who do we go after or who would you like to see back in the White and Blue Orca Jersey?

Definitely NOT Sopel. The only player I'd like to see is Bert and it would not happen.

I know the trade deadline is still a month away, but its never to early to start the buzz. For the past 2 seasons I have been dying for Gillis to make a big deadline deal for our club to take us to the promised land, but only small deals have happened and it has always left me a bit disappointed. Anyways yet another trade deadline is coming, and for the first time I won't be disappointed if nothing happens. Currently the Canucks are looking good in my eyes, although I would like to see 1 more grinder/fighter and possibly another dman, all and all the team is looking like a top 4. Could Gillis bring anyone in and not ruin the chemistry?

Anyways your thoughts on the trade deadline coming up? Who do you think we should pick up if any? What should we give up?

I know he doesn't really fit in the line up, but Grabner has been putting up some points over their on the Island..and I still think he has the potential to hit 30 goals in a season (not this season, but the potential is there)

Since we're talking for a cup run, I'd have to go with Johnson... imagine... 4 capable centers who are all solid face-off men. Johnson blocks shots and kills penalties as well.

The rest of the list I'd rather do without.

You know, I'd also be happy if absolutely nothing happened at the deadline for the Nucks...however, I have heard rumours of Matt Moulson being shopped by the deadline...I like Moulson..I think he's an under the radar player, who had a big 30 goal season last year that nobody thought he could repeat...well guess what? He's on pace for another 30 goal season. He plays on the PP and the PK and likes to park himself in front of the net..scores a lot of tip in, and rebound goals..not afraid to go into the dirty areas

I'm not sure what we'd have to give up to get him, or if he'd fit in cap wise...he's also a UFA next season...but I couldn't see how adding him would do anything but help the team

Adding a top 6 forward would be nice. Moulson is an interesting option, Islanders seem to want to dump players.

Well, we don't really need defensemen, otherwise Mitchell would be my top choice. He's a local boy who I thought deserved to be here more than Bieksa, owing to his loyalty to us (loyalty that WE did not return).

But nonetheless, we could use more forwards. My first choice is Matt Cooke. He hits, fights, and gives some great energy, and most importantly, he's got a Stanley Cup ring, the first player drafted by the Canucks to win it (not counting Doug Lidster, the traitor).

My second choice would be Big Bert, because of his size and skill. He can at least serve as the team's enforcer, which we really need. If he can snap out of his moody character and become a leader everyone relies on, he'll actually have a Gino Odjick effect on the team, encouraging everyone to get up and play big and not be afraid to fight. He'll also score goals and make plays.
