They'll pick it up. However if the right deal comes around to get a legitimate top-six guy, I think MG will pull the trigger.
What is the deal with Mike Gillis, it always seems like he's sweating...

I was wondering what you guys think would work to get a top 6 considering the salary situation and injuries, etc...and who would fit best.

I dont think the Canucks 2nd line is good enough to make a big cup run. I feel they could get past the 2nd round but thats only have the battle. I consider this year like poker and management should go "all in" to get someone at the deadline (for the right price). I feel that Samuellson is a good 2nd line player on SOME nights but in a 7 game series, I am not sure he would be consistent enough. Also, A Torres Malhotra Samuellson line (or Hansen) is a perfect 3rd line for playoffs. AV will probably end up juggling between Hansen, Samuellson and Tambellini onto the 2nd line in the playoffs unless the Canucks make some sort of move.

The cap space is limited, but I think if the Canucks could somehow pick up Parise, he would fit in with Kesler on the 2nd line.

I know he might be a rental player, but the canucks have to go "all in" this year I feel.

To NJ

Schneider
1st or Prospect (Schroeder)

To Van

Z. Parise
2nd Round Pick

Chances are this wouldnt happen, because Marty might have a few years left in him. But having Schneider go in the East, because he will be an impact player for whatever team he goes too. Problem is the Canucks would have to search for a good back-up goalie for the playoffs.

Schnieder + Raymond + 1st + 2nd conditional

If we're spending this much, might as well spend it to get Weber

Parise is going to cost us, but would be pretty good. Check out all the trade threads about him in proposals since he'll require us giving up much more to get him.

And he is likely to return from injury before the end of the season.

If this team lets go of Sang he will burn this team next year.

Sigh, try again. Weber and Parise are both franchise players (and I believe are both RFAs, not UFAs). I'm sure for Weber Nashville would want minimum Edler, plus Hodgson, and maybe even a first round pick. As for Parise, I'm thinking the only way Lamarello gives him up is if Kesler is coming the other way (and even that may not seal it)

the only problem is that we will never get parise so i don't know why people suggest it, a least get little variety in your suggestions

Kesler is the whole package and is worth more than an elite winger. Parise is a piece that could come in play as trade deadline bait in order to revamp the Devils for next year, surrounding Kovalchuk with compatible players.

I would certainly trade for a St-Louis-type player like Parise. I would think that the point would be to unite Kesler and Parise together which trading Kesler for Parise is counter active.

That said, Edler, Hodgson and a 1st would get you Weber.

The question becomes:

D. SEDIN - H. SEDIN - BURROWS
PARISE - KESLER - RAYMOND
TORRES - MALHOLTRA - SAMUELSSON
GLASS - _______ - HANSEN

BIEKSA - HAMHUIS
BALLARD - EHRHOFF
SALO - ALBERTS
Rome

LUONGO
_______

or

D. SEDIN - H. SEDIN - BURROWS
RAYMOND - KESLER - HANSEN
TORRES - MALHOLTRA - SAMUELSSON
GLASS - _______ - VOLPATTI

WEBER - HAMHUIS
BIEKSA - EHRHOFF
BALLARD - SALO
ALBERTS

LUONGO

The Vancouver Canucks would love to make a blockbuster two-for-two trade to upgrade their top six forwards. They would happily trade this year's version of Mason Raymond and Mikael Samuelsson, with just 18 goals between them so far, for last year's versions, which ended up with 55.

The key for Vancouver is to get Raymond and Samuelsson scoring. Failing that, one of them could be potential trade bait but GM Mike Gillis is leery of making too many changes on a team that has played so well.

Outside of that, the primary need is a fourth-line centre with lots of playoff experience.

ANY THOUGHTS??

Some good thoughts, would be nice if you would include a source since it's so glaringly obvious you went to TSN...

Vancouver Want to trade Schneider more than the other teams want him.

As long as Brodeur is #01 in NJ, they have no use for a young goaltender, When he will retire, THEN they will look at their option.
As i have say on every Schneider to NJ post on this forum..here is the plan for NJ:

Brodeur play two more years in NJ, then he retire.
Schneider is UFA summer 2013

NJ sign Schneider, or any solid goalie available by then (halak will be illegible as UFA as well)

Just wondering if people are satisfied with the team as is for the playoffs. I think we have a cup team but I would like to se Samuelson (spl chk) traded. I think we need our young rookies like Hodgson, even if he doesnt put up numbers but the guy will learn through mistakes, Samuelson takes up space where we can try to devolop players. Torres another that we could do with out. Any thoughts

I think Sammuelsson is sorely needed for the playoffs and has been picking up his play lately, so I hope he isn't dealt. Experience + Cup Ring

However, I am not at all pleased with Raymond and hoping he is packaged/moved for a proven top 6 forward that can play well with Kesler, especially if he continues to stink it up. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind going after a veteran 4th line centre or another minor deal to boost our 4th line. I would still keep Torres.

All a solid 4th liner and were just fine. Maby another Dman but i dont want to pay the farm for them. We need a few plugs with some speed and grit.

Yeah raymond we can do with out for now, but speed kills in playoffs, although i agree raymond could go. True about samulson expierience well noted.

Where are you going to find a better 3rd line monstrous forechecker then Torres for a 1Mill cap hit? We have EL contracts worth more then him.... so trade away a solid player for someone more expensive and still learning the game? :frantic:
