Why would Detroit or any rational gm trade his best player who makes highlight reel plays all year for someone who is prone to injury at playoff time when that is the time to excel?

I've just been thinking of wild trades in my mind, trades that I would or would not make and a few I was thinking of are tough to decide. So just want cdc's opinion on if they would do these trades if somehow possible.

It's just for fun so tell me what you think and some trades of your own and be realistic. Kinda like the game "would you rather" but in this case "would you trade"...

OK would you guys trade:

Sedins for Toews and Kane or Getzlaf and Perry?

and the one I really want ppl's take on is:

Kesler for Datsyuk?

Remember, in no way im saying to the canucks go out and make these trades cus i kno its not happening. Just discussing and comparing players.

I would say no to all of the above. I might say yes to Toews and Kane because they are so much younger than the Sedins.

Let Canucks management know you want King Richard Brodeur in the Ring of Honour with no further delay! He's been retired for 25 years!

Getzlaf/Perry. They've already carried their team to the promised land. It's a tough one but I would do it.

Kesler for Datsyuk would be pretty tough to choose but Datsyuk makes players around him better. Kesler isn't that elite yet, but still mad props to him.

Well, by that reasoning, so have Toews and Kane...more recently AND they are younger.

Yes, Sedins for Kane&Toews in a heartbeat.

Detroit won't trade Datsyuk for Kesler. Datsyuk is still a better player.

Not sure why anyone would want to trade back to back Art Ross trophy winning players for non back to back Art Ross trophy winners.
The Sedins are elite players in this league, why anyone would want to get rid of them is beyond me.

Oh wait, this is CDC. Posted Image

I don't ride with the band, I roll with the team.

I've been a Canuck fan since 2004-05 when the team was going through a huge transition phase, missed the playoffs

If the oppertunity came, I would consider trading Kesler for Ovechkin, but I would never touch the sedins :D

But then again, I am not a HUGE Kesler fan :D

No I would not trade Kesler for Datsyuk. Kesler is younger and is getting better every year.

ok so you wouldnt. lotta ppl i ask say they would. i don't know what i would pick thas why i wana hear what ppl think... they may be enemy players but that doesnt mean they arn't good lol

would you do kesler for datsyuk?

problem with sedins for kane/toews or crosby/malkin or perry/getzlaff is all the tandems have won a cup...

sedins for parise/kovelchuk
kessler for datsyuk = no datsyuk older then kess, kess has ability to be even better. Every year kess gets better and has not hit 29 yet.

kessler for toews

....what I would like to hear some real possible trade talk about the Kessler line. Is it possible for MG to make a trade that would vault the 2nd line into competing with the Sedins for first line status. In this year after "THE LOSS" that competition could could inspire a team. I worry about complacency after the climactic road to the SCF

Hey all, just curious to get your opinions on what it would take to get Shea Weber to be a part of the Canucks. The leafs just got franson out of nashville for pretty much nothing, and I would love to see Weber and Hamius reunited as a pairing. In my opinion if we get Weber our defense is the best in the leauge by far..

My proposal is CoHo, Ballard, 2nd rounder for Weber. Does that sound fair and if not should we give up a first rounder instead of a 2nd rounder?

I wouldn't trade the Sedins for anyone. Kesler for Datsyuk.. that's interesting. Datsyuk is my favourite player but I would have to say Kesler for his goal-scoring abilities.

I'd say

Edler
Hodgson
1st 2012

Even though they have Blum, Ellis coming up, they'd probably want a proven d-man in return. And I doubt they want Ballard.

By trading Edler, maybe we could pair up Ballard with Weber. Weber would automatically make Ballard look good and we could keep our pair of Bieksa and Hamhuis. That's a strong top 4 !

For those saying Ballard doesn't dserve playing with Weber...who though Seidenberg deserved playing with Chara at first...he did a really good job even though he's clearly not a 2nd d-man on any team.

The Franson trade is not a comparable the way I see it... Nashville is a defense factory.... they pump out pretty solid d-men... look at their history and what they have for up and comers. The reason the Preds got "nothing" back for Franson is because the point of that trade was to clear up some cap space to be able to sign Weber..

Hard to say. Ballard's not as bad as said. Remember the way everyone crapped all over Juice? Gillis is not stupid, so, he and the scouts knew what they were getting. That said, Ballard has not been playing up to his true potential whether due to lack of confidence, injury, other health issues, squak over ice time or what ever else it can be. If he is not given time to return to form, his value could lower than it should be. Possibly then seen as a reclamation project with a reasonably high cap hit by another team.

With that in mind, I think that Nashville will want more than what you propose. Add a 1st rounder and another decent low cap hit player like Tanev(they have already lost d men)and you may see them consider it, maybe.

The Canucks should soooo do a trade with the Devils. We should offer a trade like this:

To Canucks: Zach Parise, David Clarkson, Johan Hedberg, 2 rd pick, 5th rd pick

To Devils:
Mikael Samuelsson, Keith Ballard, Ryan Parent, Cory Schneider, and 1st rd pick

If we do this trade our lineups will look like this:

Sedin / Sedin / Burrows
Parise / Kesler / Higgins
Raymond / Malhotra / Clarkson
Sturm / Lapierre / Ebbett

Hamhuis / Bieksa
Edler / Salo
Alberts / Rome

Luongo
Hedberg

A perfect team that will bring hone the Stanley Cup!
