What secondary forwars would they want from here? Raymond's injured, I don't see them going for Sturm, maybe Samuelsson for a leadership role, but if we were able to land a legitimate top 6 forward, we need cap room. I would really love to see Ballard get more playing time, because we all know how he can play if he gets enough ice, but with him and Av's relationship, I don't like the look of him staying here. Gillis and AV just have to get on the same page.

They probably don't have any extreme interest in any of our forwards but if we give them prospects/picks and then throw in Samuelsson/Raymond it couldn't hurt. They add a veteran 2nd/3rd liner, it helps them reach the cap floor, and we get rid of a roster spot and cap room for Comeau.

I guess you never thought that TB wouldn't match that offer. How do you plan on fitting him under the salary cap since were close to the ceiling anyways?
You have to have the right team that needs a goaltender . Again!! Since you want to trade Schneider. Who do you plan on replacing him with? Remember you need a goaltender that can play 20-25 games without burning out your starting goaltender . And if you think Lack is your answer then ask yourself if it took Schneider 3-4 years in the minors how do you know its not going to take just as long for Lack to developed??
Anything can happened during a regular season . You haven't learned a darn thing FROM NJ HAVE YOU!! How many first round picks did they give up for Kovolchuck??? Wasn't NJ supposed to be in the playoffs having Kololchuck in the line up?? Weren't those picks supposed to be low too Canadiangunner????? Guess what Gunner those picks that NJ gave up became higher picks because they missed the playoffs. I really don't think the devils had plans on missing the playoffs, and what they gave up for a calibre player like Kovolchuck do you??????
There is no way your gonna recover five first round picks period. And you would be giving up alot more and that means not just
just giving up Schneider either. You be hurting this franchise for years to come.
Really tell that to teams like Detroit that those picks mean nothing to them. Count 20 plus years of having picks in the bottom of the barrow and still they find gems. Its been provin that with the right scouting you can find those players.

I would just like to say a few things here:

First of all, I'm not saying I'd offer sheet Stamkos, but I do wonder why nobody else has.

Now on with dissecting your rant

-With Kesler and the Twins making reasonable cap hits, along with what OP suggested of having 6.25 cap hit, I believe that's 4 of the best players in the game for about 24million. I'd do that in a heart beat for 5 1st round draft picks (although, I believe it would only be 4, not 100% sure)

-Why not trade Schneider as a replacement for a 1st round pick? What are we honestly going to do when he wants a decent contract (IE: 3-4M per year)? Do we keep him for that much and have more idiotic people fume about how much our goaltenders make? Or if not, do we just let him walk, with nothing coming our way? Im pretty sure dependant on the recipient team, we could net a top 10 overall pick in return for Cory.

-Yes, a back-up goalie that can play 20-25 games is essential (IMO anyways, but Calagary's method doesn't seem to work) Conklin, Leclaire, even Turco would be guys that could at least break even at that many games, while not costing us too much.

-NJD only really gave up 1 first rounder in the Kovalchuk deal. The team's failure, was just that. Everybody until February didn't do much.

-How can we hurt the franchise by adding a 21 year old superstar? And going by the offer sheet method, we don't lose Hodgson, Schroeder, etc.

-I really don't know why you added Detroit as your example for drafting players in the first round. Their Gems/Allstars they end up with usually come in the 3+ rounds, ala Datsyuk, Zetterburg, Lidstrom. And this also must mean, according to you and the team you used as your example, first rounders can be given up, as long as you have good scouting, which is true, and our Scouting department has gotten quite a bit better these last few years.

That is all.

So they are way under the cap, and you want to target a RFA on a team that's trying to get to the cap floor?

And their defense is actually not that bad. Mark Streit, Travis Hamonic, Calvin De Haan.

Gillis and AV just have to get on the same page.

But that's the trick, for a deal with a team looking to make the cap floor, we'd want to move expensive players to get inexpensive players in return. As far as NYI, that'd mean existing players/prospects who are on cheap contracts versus players due for a raise that could realize their potential in our system, or maybe even picks instead. It's not so much about who they'd want from us as how much he'd cost.

They'd obviously look for a need, and we'd probably want to bring in a NHL ready player to fill the gap of what we traded away in return. I'm not sure how it'd work, but it won't work trading salary for salary in a situation like you've proposed.

I think that if you are to get anyone out of TB it would be Lecavelier at $7,727,273 cap hit.††Perhaps, swing a deal, once TB signs Stamkos to a $7M plus contract.††Do the following.

From Vancouver to TB:††
Luongo (be closer to wife's family) -$5.333M††††††††††††††††††††††
Ballard†††††††††††††††††††††††††††† -$4.2M††††††††††††††††††††††
Hodgson (let's face it, this prospect will never get a chance in Vancouver)
Total Cap Hit†††††††††††††††††††††† -$9.533M

To Vancouver from TB:††Lecavelier†††+$7.727M††††††††††††††††††††††
Roloson†††††††††††††††††††††††††††† +$3.5M††††††††††††††††††††††
TB Defense Prospect††††††††††††††††††††††
Total Cap Hit†††††††††††††††††††††† +$11.227M††††††††††††††††††††††

Net Cap hit to Van††††††††††††††††††+$1.694M††††††††††††††††††††††

Remain cap to sign Hassen†††††††††† +$2.198M

Canucks would be stronger up front, weaker on D and goal.††Allows for us to grow with Schneider but are handy capped by Lecaveliers contract.†Hey, I would never do this trade but Lecavelier is the only $7M plus man you are getting out of Tampa Bay.

Hodgson hasn't been able to train for a full summer since pretty much his draft summer in 2008.

He got injured in 08-09 and was misdiagnosed for the entire 09-10 season. Finally last season he was diagnosed with a tear in his back and healed and began training in August of 2010 with G.Roberts.

I think he could be ready since he's a hard-worker and I think he would click with Kesler. Raymond's injury is a wild-card, because set-backs can always happen.

Stamkos is going to be the cornerstone of the TBL. A franchise player and I don't think that TB would let him go THAT easily.

Why would Stamkos sign a deal with another team that would directly impact the Lightning for years to come.

Although it's not up to him directly to take the financial haircut.

He does have to realize if he signs a contract with another team; it will directly impact the Lightning because they will match whatever the deal is..

Firstly I realize this will not happen because of the number of no trade clauses and gillis not asking players to waive them. So lets pretend there are no ntcs and look at the value.
Van-Ryan, Berglund, Stewart
Stl-Sedin, Sedin
Ana- Oshie, Stl 1st, Hodgson and a HEALTHY raymond

Vancouver gives Sedin, Sedin, Hodgson and Raymond
Vancouver gets Ryan, Berglund, Stewart

St. Louis gets Sedin and Sedin<br
St. Louis gives Berglund, Stewart, Oshie and a 1st

Anahiem gets Oshie, 1st, Hodgson and Raymond
Anahiem gives Ryan

Why Vancouver? I feel the Canucks are going to be unable to win a cup with the sedins. We give excellent players to get bigger and meaner players who can score. Ryan is a first liner, Berglund is a bonafide second liner on the verger of breaking out, and stewart is a young power forward capable of 30 goals. We give Kesler the team to lead and give him the supporting cast to help him do it.

Why St. Louis? Simply put they get two top 5 nhl players in the sedins. Sure it would hurt to lose those young guys they give up. But they have the depth to do it. This would also make them instant playoff contenders. A top nine of Sedin Sedin Backes, Steen McDonald Perron, Sobotka Arnott Langenbrunner is very good.

Why Anahiem? Simply put they will not have a second line in a couple of years when blake and koivu retire. Oshie could start off on the second line and by the next year should be ready for the first line. Hodgson could center the second line in a couple of years and start on the third since he is nhl ready. A healthy Raymond would play on the second line. The 1st is for a very deep one that should help get another forward to get top six minutes.

Trade 2:

Van-Hemsky
Edm- Schneider, 1st and Samuelsson

Why Vancouver? gets their playmaker for kesler and ryan

Why Edmonton? gets goalie for the future, 1st in a deep draft and a veteran winger to replace hemsky.

Signings
Hansen 3 years @1.2m per
Oreskovich 2 years @.7m per
Hannan 1 year @ 3m
any backup but for lineup just sign most expensive
Leclaire 1 year @1.5m<br

Way too much change-over for a team that was 1 game away from a cup.

Terrible trade. You're going to give up the last 2 Art Ross trophy winners and have Ryan, Berglund, and Stewart as the 1st line? Awful. I don't think that lineup breaks the top 4 in the West, and it might squeak in at 6th or 7th. Definitely a worse team than we currently have.

I am an exit.

anaheim and st.louis win that trade the canucks would come out of that trade worse than before that trade that is an awful trade gillis isn't that stupid to even think about that trade. Why would you get rid of 2 art ross winners in the sedins and a good young prospect.

For the other trade it would be an overpayment in my mind for a guy who gets injured alot he is like a sami salo except he is a forward. And I wouldn't want to give edmonton schneider becasue i wouldn't want to face him six times a year. If we are going to trade schneider i would want to trade him to the eastern conference.

We need to get some cap space so trade Raymond, Ballard, and Samuelsson, 1st round pick. Frees up to 9+ mill .to get Weber and 1st round pick

Why Vancouver does this:

Get a franchise d-man who can win the Norris and replace Erhoff and is better defensively and a better 1st round pick next year

Why Nashville does this:

Get 2 forwards a twenty one year old with lots of potential and a veteran who won the cup and ballard a good puck moving d-man and a pick

i know this is a pipe dream but if this happened the canucks would be in great business

"hello Stanley im going to book you next summer for the canucks"

God damn CDC i swear you all think up the same garbage and spew it on here.

Samuelsson - Old, No trade value except at the deadline to a team that needs playoff experts. ( Value him at a 6th or 7th pick)
Raymond - Currently wearing a back brack and currently his Value is low, very very low. He needs to prove his worth all over again with a surgery this serious. ( Value him at 5th right now )
Ballard - As confident as a fat kid with his shirt off after last season. High caphit with little production, dosent make him that valuable. ( Value him at a 3rd pick right now)
1st round pick - Value is a 1st round pick.

So your saying Weber for 1st, 6th, 5th and 3rd round pick..

Bravo smart guy. If you were Nashville GM Would you take all thie garbage you have supplied for the best Dman in the game ?
