If Bieksa is getting traded to Pittsburgh, I'd want someone like Craig Adams in return. He would be a huge upgrade over Rypien at centre plus he he's won the Cup with Carolina and Pittsburgh. Maybe add MIchael Rupp or Maxime Talbot to the deal?

If Gonchar is gone, and Hamhuis decides to sign elsewhere, we could be in a good position to deal with the Penguins. If they're keen on acquiring Bieksa, maybe we can get them to take Alberts as well, kind of like how Lukowich was a throw in to get Ehrhoff.

To Van: F Craig Adams + ???
To Pitts: D Kevin Bieksa + D Andrew Alberts

I think we could better offers from other teams that are in dire need of a defenseman. Pittsburgh really doesn't have much too offer us, unless they're willing to add Beau Bennett into the deal, which is highly unlikey.
Sedin Sedin Burrows
Baertschi Bonino Vrbata
Prust Horvat Hansen
Kenins Cassels Dorsett
Vey
Edler Tanev
Hamhuis Weber
Sbisa Bartkowski
Corrado Clendening
Miller Markstrom

That would be awesome, but the Rangers would have to be insane not to sign him.

If Ottawa buys him out, then maybe offer him $800,000. I think he still has something to prove and will come cheap. The Canucks might kick some life back into his career like we did with Raycroft.

How about

Sedin Sedin Burr 14.2
Raymond Kesler Sammy 10.5
Dupuis Madden Armstrong 5.6
Rypen \ Hodgson \ Schroeder \ Shirokov, Welly, Oreskovich 3.5

Ballard Ehrhoff 7.3
Salo Edler 6.75
Foster M.A. Bergeron \ Sutton 4.0

Lou 6.7
____ .5

Cap Hit 58.8
trade Bieksa for Dupuis
sign Madden 1.75
sign Armstrong 2.4
sign Foster 2.0
sign M.A. Bergeron 2.0 or
sign Sutton 2.0
resign Raymond 2.5
resign Wellwood 1.4

Please dont Flame just a suggestion

there is alot of signings so it might not happen

Those aren't the shut-down defensemen we are looking for. We should be aiming for better defenders like Z. Michalek, Volchenkov, Hamhuis or even Martin. M.A. Bergeron would be the worst defenseman we could sign since he is worse than Bieksa on defense and we already have Ballard, Edler, Ehrhoff and Salo for the PP so his asset would be redundant. I like any of Armstrong, Ladd, Madden, Nystrom or Malhotra. We would have either Wellwood or Hodgson in the lineup next year, since we won't be able to have both on the roster.

Darren Helm for 4th line center. We could steal him from wings.

Hes young
Plenty of playoff experience
Kills Penalties
Hits
Blocks Shots

I think he would be a good replacement if RJ doesn't come back.

I would definitely like Gillis to pry Maxim Talbot from the Pens. He seems to be the prototypical 3rd liner we need to push us as cup contenders.

You would have to find a theoretical mathematician to calculate the number of O s needed to accurately express the length of the word NO in my response to this suggestion.

Let me just say that I am a Northern California Canucks fan whose father is a Sharks fan. I have gone to at least one Sharks-'Nucks game a year since 1996 and have watched both teams grow into contenders, and I can tell you that when he scored 50 goals even my father, the Sharks fan, said that it was a one season fluke. When the Sharks dropped him, my dad wanted to throw a parade. Picking up dregs is not how a successful team is built.

Now stop it!

Well they haven't qualified him so he might be a free agent. And if they do we could pay a million for him and see if they match.
I would take him for 1 million 1 year contract. I would put him with the sedins and see if they can work some of there magic. If they could turn pyatt and carter into 20-30 goal scorers why cant they do the same with cheechoo.

Our line up can look something like this:

sedin-sedin-cheechoo
burrow-kesler-sammy
raymond-hodgson-schroeder
oreskabitch-bloduc-hansen/ or any plugs we can come up with

It gives us more options with the second and third line and if it doesnt work out no biggy. Just waive him, buy him out etc.

Its a low risk with a high reward

If he could be signed for 1 million or so try him with the Sedins. If he could get 50 with Thornton and Marleau maybe he can find his thouch again with the twins.

Don't agree with your lineup though, two rookies and raymond on the third line???

because if you can pick up a former nhl 50 goal scorer at the age of 29 for dirt cheap, something magical "could" happen when he plays beside the Sedins... If we can pick him up for 1 millionish, the worst thing we will have to do is to send him down to the AHL when things don't work out.....

of course, that's the Cheechoo supporter's point of view... Personally i will not want to see him eating up out top 6 space and prevent our core players to develop further more, but i don't mind to see him testing the water with the Sedins if we can sign him below 1 million.

Canucks forward lines are pretty much set.

Let another team gamble that the "magic" can be rediscovered.

I really hope none of you guys forgot that Making an offer to a RFA requires draft picks if the other team can't match. For someone like Marc Staal, I imagine we would need to offer him a offer that would cost us a 1st round 2nd round and or a 3rd round pick. If we really want to be assholes, we will end up offering something that would cost us 4 1st rounders.

Since it's CDC I'm not sure if we can do go through 2 years in a row were we are missing the 1st 3 rounds of draft picks.

Edited by MoneypuckOverlord, 28 June 2010 - 06:16 PM.

Well, I , I feel very good about this draft, but I, I think, potentially you know were gonna have 3 or 4 NHL players out of this group, ummmm, you know like we are not going to prejudice to were they are from.

-Jim Benning June 27, 2015 shortly after the completion of the 2015 NHL Entry draft in Miami Florida.

I don't know much about Dustin Boyd, but is he not just a player whose average at everything and not good at one particularly thing, and can skate fast? If so, seems like more of a type of player you would keep down in the minors and call-up when injuries occur to fill a variety of roles.
