for $3.5 million, not a chance.......if there was anyway to get him for $1 million, it might be worth the risk. not sure what happened to him, he had such a great scoring touch. it seems to be a mental issue with him. at 29, if he could find his game again, he'd still have a few good years left. ofcourse, thats if he has anything good left.

He should, if he can spend some time playing in Europe....get that shot back.

Makes you wonder if he was just an opportunistic goal scorer because of some good positioning and great feeds from his teammates (read:Jumbo Joe).

Some good players do encounter lulls and slowly get back their game...i hope Cheechoo can.

I don't care about scoring goals. We don't need a fourth line that can score goals, we need a fourth line that is ALL-defensive and doesn't get into too much trouble if they're caught playing the first line.

Glass and Oreskovich would be smashing other teams 1st lines into the boards.

Sorry.

The Florida Sun Sentinel reports that fourth line forward Kamil Kreps reportedly has signed to play professionally in Finland next season. Kreps, 25, is a restricted free agent and the Panthers were not expected to tender him a qualifying offer this month to remain with the team.

We have a great change, I heard on Nucks Misconduct/ Google Sports that they are having trouble resigning him due to money. We could offer like 5-6 and it would be really dificult for NYR to resign. It would cost us the 30th pick, 60 pick, 90th pick { ;)) next year but that is worth it for a former 10 overall pick who is coming along really well.

Petteri Nokelainen. He is a gritty center that is good defensively and can play the PK. He is also a player that can be agitating.

Cody McCormick. Injuries set him back, but he was impressive in the playoffs for the Sabres. 6'3 215 lbs, can play any forward position.

Ben Guite. Agitating and physical player. Good on the PK and good at faceoffs.

I would take him, though I really think he is headed over to the KHL he will garner probably over 1mil there and be a top 6 player.

I think you need to know that 50 blocked shots isn't really remarkable. He might be an okay PKer, but you can better, braver, more sturdy guys.

I've noticed you use up your (-) way faster than (+) on this site.

Having one '-' for every three '+'s doesn't help, but I know what you mean.

If we think Oreskivoch won't pan out on our 4th line then I suggest picking up Arron Asham he comes at a great price.

I don't see Detroit giving up Helm. He's a good young player and good at his role, he isn't going anywhere. I would take him in a heartbeat for our 4th line though.

UFAs that I would like to see rounding out the fourth line:

Manny Malhotra
Arron Asham
Scott Walker
Tom Pyatt
Steve Begin
Eric Nystrom
Maxim Lapierre
Drew Miller

All good forecheckers, not terrible defensively, pretty speedy and can contribute offensively. All play with desire to WIN, something our fourth line pretty much lacked in the playoffs.

Anyone is an upgrade on Johnson but we aren't getting Blackhawks to play on the team.

Adam Burish is not an upgrade over Ryan Johnson as fourth line center.

I think I like Nystrom the best in that bunch and I think he could be on the 3rd line. I like Lapierre, but I don't think he'll be going anywhere.

I would add Dan Paille, Petteri Nokelainen, Jared Boll, Ben Guite, Cody McCormick, Matt Ellis, and Christoph Schubert to your list. They may not all have the same description as you have, but they would all look good on our 4th line.

If canucks do get somebody on July 1st preferebly a defenseman I can see Bieksa going out on a trade. Gillis indicated he wanted to get bigger and tougher so heres my proposal.

To Washington:
Kevin Bieksa

To Canucks:
Matt Bradley
3rd Round pick in 2011

Why Capitals do it- The capitals need a defenseman who is tough and can score yet play defense.

Why Canucks do it- We dump Bieksa hefty salary while we add a big grinder with some offensive upside and get a draft pick in what Gillis thinks is a 'deep draft'

Matt Bradley facts:
6' 3" 201lbs and had 24 points in 77 games
Interesting fact: He had 5 game winning goals on an offensively loaded Capitals team

With bradley's addition here is my line-up:

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Samuellson Kesler Raymond
Bradley Hodgson Hansen
Oreskovich Rypien Glass

Ballard Hamhuis
Edler Salo
O'Brien Ehrhoff

Edited by LionelMessi, 29 June 2010 - 12:08 AM.

I hate the fact that everyone thinks a 4th line is supposed to hit while the 3rd line has to check. Why not -

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Raymond - Kesler - Samuelsson (checking line to put out against opposing teams top forwards and counter attack with speed)
Bradley - Johnson/Bolduc - Hansen (checking line to put out against opposing teams top forwards)
Schroeder - Hodgson - Shirokov (break the rookies into the league slowly with gradually increasing minutes)

Now we have 2 "checking" lines - one purely to defend (the 3rd line) while the 2nd will often take defensive faceoffs and break up the ice quickly with their good speed. The 1st line is soley for scoring while the 4th line will give our rookies an opportunity to make their way into the NHL with 5-10 minutes a game.

I am not sure that is the best idea for development. Playing 5-10 minutes on the fourth line compared to 20+ on the first in Manitoba.

What do you think is the price of Jordan Eberle is right now? What would we have to give up to get this guy?

Im not looking forward to Eberle and Hall playing together at all. And lets face it this guy is going to be the next Parise or St. Louie.

He is a greedy overrated player that is demanding too much money. I suggest we leave him alone.

Not taking salary cap into account. I would take Kovalchuk at $7 million over Frolov at $5 million any day. Kovalchuk shows up every game in the season and playoffs. Frolov is the type that disappears on you, and you don't want that.

Canucks should sign Eric Nystrom. He would be a good fit for our Bottom 6, and Calgary isnt likely to re-sign him, as Sutter wants to get rid of as many effective players as possible.
2010/06/16: Eric Nystrom may become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Calgary GM Darryl Sutter said that Nystrom could end up pricing himself off the team's roster. Nystrom is looking for a raise from the $775,000 he made this past season. "He fills a role," Sutter said. "I like Eric Nystrom, but fourth-line players on the first of August are $600,000 players. You have to prioritize. If you can get a star by spending that extra $300,000 to $400,000, that's what you do." The Flames will be in the market for some more scoring up front, which may make Nystrom expendable as well. (Source: Calgary Herald)

for $1.2 mil he would be a good fit.

Too many haters here, If this guy signs for just a mill and does well, why not? If he sucks, back to the minors and won't cause us cap problems

former 50 goal scorers at his age are worth one year cheap contracts

it's worth the shot
