Aaahh.. And yeah.. Most of the time the ringtones for everybody's phone sucks balls. That's why you can either download them or just make it yourself.

How fast is the iPhone as in browsing the web and all that?

If you have a good connection to the internet, probably just about as fast as your computer, give or take a few milliseconds depending on the page.

Don't forget though, some websites aren't exactly mobile friendly, and the iPhone cannot display them.

Then how about if you're on the go or somewhere in the forest where there's no stable wifi connection...

What carrier are you using?

I personally have Telus, and I can safely tell you that their coverage is WAY better than Rogers/Fido. If you are in places where there is no WiFi, then you'd fall on your 3.5/3G network connectivities - you'll need a good data plan so you don't get charged a ridiculous amount for browsing the web.

What carrier will you be with?
How much are you willing to spend each month?
What features would you like? (umlimited text? call display? 500MB data? etc.)

Well I'm staying with Telus and I'm not sure how much I'im willing to spend but I would like 250 text messaging, Caller ID, free wifi without any charge and I guess 500MB data?

WiFi is automatically free, FYI. It's essentially like bringing a laptop around and taking wireless internet from people, businesses, buildings, schools, etc.

500MB data is plenty enough. If you have wireless internet at home, you'll pretty much be going off that anyway while you are home anyway (if you're not using your computer).
Spoiler

The only thing that could make you exceed 500MB data is if you download a lot of movies, or stream a lot of videos off of youtube.

I use so much WiFi (at school, at work, at home), I've only used up 10 MBs of data out of my 500 MB in two weeks. Pretty sad, eh?

Have you been with Telus for a long time? Expect to pay no less than $50 a month.

The plans are pretty crappy, if you ask me. Lucky my family has been with Telus for a LONG time, so I was able to haggle a bit out of loyalty.

For $50, you can get:

Up to 150 anytime minutes (free after 9PM)
Unlimited talk + text to your fav 5s OR Double anytime minutes OR 1000 incoming/outgoing text messages.
NO call display on this plan... I guess they are trying to make you pay more (equivilant to Rogers/Fido/Bell, etc.)
500 MB data

and the usual, less important stuff

You can take a look at these here:
http://www.telusmobi...one/index.shtml

They are not cheap... and they don't contain much. If you've been with Telus for a while, you could try giving a call to loyalty, or maybe you could work out something with a dealer, getting anything from both is highly unlikely unless you have connections.

I currently pay $50 a month:

150 anytime minutes (includes bonus)
250 text messages
Unlimited talk + text to Fav 5s
Call Display
Voice mail 10
500 MB data

And all the other minor things.

Luckily they screwed something up while inputting it in, so I get the first 3 months half price :).

So basically unless I'm using a WiFi hotspot, I'll be using up my 500MB data. And Voice Mail 10 is what again? And the only movies I have are The Proposal and Hot Rod that I normally watch anyways. I've been with Telus for 3 years but I'm not sure how long my mom has been with Telus. Does the data plan cost per month affect how big your iPhone is? Like if it's 16GB, it would still be $50 per month (if I choose to go that way)?

VoiceMail 10 is Voice Mail with 10 messages.

Data plan has not affect on how big your iPhone is. Data plan depends on how many minutes and data you want a month.

Okay, I got a few questions.

I recently bought an iphone from my friend for a decent price, but I have not put the data plan on yet.
With my current normal phone, i pay 70-75 a month.
My question is what is the cost of the data plans? and what does it include. I would need unlimited texting.
And i don't really talk too much on the phone.

_________

My sister picked up a brochure for me about the data plans.
Monthly fee: $50
Minutes incl: 100 weekdays, + 100 bonus
Evenings +weekend included: Unlimited
Choose one feature. : I would take the unlimited Texting
Bonus: 1 month of unlimited local calling
Additional voice rate: 35cents / minute
Additional data rate: 3 cents/MB
Government Reg Rec fee : $2.58

So would all this be cheaper than what I am paying now? and is this what the data plan is? Is this the best data plan available?

Thanks.

Yes, every time you are not connected to a wireless network, you will be eating through your data. 500 MB is a lot of data. I'm just saying, if you don't have an internet connection and you start using it as a computer, you'll eat through that in a week or two. 500 MB is plenty of data. You just have to be smart using it (i.e. you can't download 2 movies per day).

The phone's capacities have absolutely nothing to do with your data plan. Voice mail 3 is standard with the 50 dollar plan (it holds up to 3 messages). It's not a big deal... just delete the messages when you are done with them, and you should be good.

^How much data are you getting though?

Yes, I'd say ANYTHING is cheaper than what you're getting now.

Lol @ Government Reg fee. Read the fineprint; it has absolutely nothing to do with the government. I'm guessing this is Rogers? --> Robbers! They advertised that they took away system access fees, but really, you end up paying more becomes of all the extra fees they put on that are VERY misleading.

Yes sorry i forgot to add that in. It is 500mb of data. That is enough for me.
lol okay lets read the fineprint:
The government Regulatory Recovery Fee ranges from $2.46 to $2.58/line/month (varies by province and plan selected) It is applied to help fund fees, costs and other amounts related to federal , provincial, and/or municipal mandates, programs and requirments. it is not a tax or charge the government requires Rogers to collect and is subject to change.

Yes, this is what a data plan is. Data plan is basically a regular plan but includes data.

If you are with Telus: http://www.telusmobi...one/index.shtml
Bell: http://www.bell.ca/s...alTimeRatePlans
Rogers: I don't know...there website is hell a lot hard to navigate.

= another reason why I call Rogers --> Robbers.

Anyway, the plan is alright... it's on par with any other plan you'd get for 50 dollars (regardless of your carrier). Even if there was something different, it would be VERY minor.

Go for it.

Ya, I jumped on the Rogers Family plan wagon. My plan's pretty sweet, and I got my N95 with vision ($5 unlimited wireless browsing). I don't think they offer that anymore.

Alright thanks, I think I just might.

Yeah my contract with rogers in July 2010. I think I will be switching, I have had a few problems with Rogers in the past.

FlashForFree

You take pictures like normal and then go to the app and select which pic you want to add flash to and it lightens it up
It's not great but better than nothing at all

to change that, go to advanced settings in it, and change the delete from server option to right away, something like that. its still a little wonky though, like emails read on hotmail wont appear as read on phone
