This might just be evidence that Eklund has completely lost it.

Or maybe Burke will trade away even more first round draft picks.

Note that Eklund is quoting a "source" on this.

Toronto has no bargaining chips. Burke already wasted his future on Kessel, barely any good prospects and their roster has nothing to offer. Toronto is the last place he will end up.

Eklund is about as trustworthy as a middle aged man with no kids, parked in front of a school yard in a van, watching the kids play.

Why would a team that has pretty much no chance of making the playoffs trade for a UFA then again its burke he might just want to screw TO even more before he gets fired

I can imagine it now...

It doesn't make sense for Toronto to acquire at this point, but if they do, maybe they're offering Kaberle and Kulemin or something...

Wow, you were right; you were able to compare your Friday afternoons to something in the Trades/Rumours/Signings forum, after all.

What could they even offer? Kaberle won't accept, they wont move Kadri or Schenn, they will never pick in the 1st round again... So what?

Ian White, Carl Gunnarsson, 2nd 2011, 3rd 2010? Not gonna happen.

Those draft picks have a great chance of being first overall.

I don't think that'll be enough for even Waddel. That's talking years down the road. The difference between the Kessel trade picks is that they know they are getting top 10 picks for those.

Not that Burkie wouldn't do that. Burke seems to be under the impression that draft picks cause cancer.

Eklund only does this to tease the fans. You know, everything he says is BS, but any idiot knows that Canadian fans are gullible and easily lured to hockey rumors. Thus, with a stupid rumor, Eklund gets more "hits" on his site. That's all it is.

How many years into the future can a team trade away their picks? How about a 2012,2013 and a 2014 1st round pick for Kovy! Do it Burkie!!

Anyway doesn't Kovy have a no trade clause?? NO way he would go to that disaster situation.

Wrong. WIth Burke at the helm, If he was willing to give Boston that much, Atlanta will have 20 first round picks in the next 10 years.

lol.. i really don't see what's with all the hatred/bashing towards burke.. afterall.. the canucks are still revolving around all the pieces he and nonis left behind ie sedins, luongo, burrows, kesler, mitchell, edler, basically the entire team.. if we were to win a cup with this team.. we should be tahnking burkie and nonis.. at least burke have the guts to make big splashes.. (making the trade that landed the sedins)

I doubt this so so much. But Toronto COULD get the pieces together if they really really want him.

Kaberle could be the centerpiece and Atlanta loses Kubina this year.

Kaberle
Stajan
Kulemin
Ian White
Gunnarsson
3rd round pick 2010 (might as well, right?)

for

Kovalchuk
Todd White

Or something. Stajan and Antropov had decent chemistry. This trade would change Atlanta to a pretty well-rounded
team.

Afinogenov - Antropov - Kulemin
Kozlov - Peverly - Kane
Little - Stajan - Armstrong
Boulton - Reasoner - Thorburn
Slater

Enstrom - Hainsey
Kaberle - Bogosian
White - Salmela

Pavelec
Hedberg

Toronto is already 2nd last in their conference and trading away picks/prospects could just kill the organization. If Kovalchuk wants to win, Toronto is not the place for him.

Actually, I want this trade to happen so Burke will give his top prospects and early picks for a guy who will just walk away come post season. And Toronto is once again got screwed over.

Maybe Burke is just checking out status of contract talks. You know he'd go to league maximum in July to try and sign him.

Hopefully Kovy will be smart, take less money, and play for a team like Washington or Pittsburgh or Vancouver and sign with a team with a legit shot at the cup.
