you basically answered your own question. its personal reasons so it wont be made public. like last year when i think it was Rypein had personal reasons after his injury and didnt play.

What is the source of the information that Demitra will be out for personal reasons? I have seen nothing official on canucks.com to this effect.

Hey, that's not a very nice thing to say. I'm sure he has his matter in hand.

Time is telling........time is telling.........

PS

Both Hordi and Rypien will not be required tonight. Expect RJ in.

It sounds like it is a family matter.

Don't worry, he'll be back.

When they say personal matters, that means that it is something outside of hockey that the player/management don't want to disclose.

It likely is none of our business.

This does give a couple other guys one last shot to show what they're made of.

Yeah, I get that its 'none of our business' I suppose I will rephrase my question to: " Does anyone know if Demitra will still be playing in the olympics, seeing as his flying home to Vancouver with three games to go this week makes it appear that he is done on the pre-olympic road trip."

Ok, all you Hansen lovers, this is his chance to change my mind about his ability to be effective at the NHL level.

Based on his inability to help the Moose over their last 5 games, he was invisible, I doubt he will impress tonight.

My guess is, due to lackluster play he will finish the game on the 4th line. For the team's sake, I hope he proves me wrong and shows a bit of physical prowess and puck handling ability. I just don't think he has it.Posted Image

Umm, looking at the line-up, it appears Ryp and Hordi are in, RJ is out. Hansen is playing the 4th line. Glass is on the 3rd.

I'm looking at this third line and thinking, oh crap. These guys do not have chemistry. Just when Demitra was starting to kick start that third line.
How would you shake it up though? Only using the line-up for tonight, no call ups or non-dressed.

I think Wellwood has some good chemistry with Raymond, so, hmm. Bernier up to the Kesler line and Raymond down to the 3rd? Shouldn't be looked at as a demotion. I think it's all about chemistry. Maybe Hansen up to the 3rd and Glass down to the 4th.

So:

1st: Dany-Hank-Burr
2nd: Sami-Kes-Bernier
3rd: Hansen-Wellwood-Raymond
4th: Glass-Rypien-Hordi.

Worth a shot. Actually Bernier's style fits more in with Kesler and Sami, I think. Gotta think of something to do with him (Bernier), nothing else seems to work.

i would rather have Baummer in the lineup then to have rome.. Rome is a decent player if he plays the body. but if he tries anything with the puck, he always scares me... he needs to work on the stick handling skills. He fanned on so many passes in the Bruins games.

It is only important that Hansen impresses the coaches. If he's invisible tonight, it's because he's going so fast. Like his hair is on fire. Like a scalded cat. Like a homesick angel.

There is no way in hell that will happen.

Bernier is definately not good enough to bump Raymond from the second line.

My guess is Shirok/Grabner will be called up for the back to back games thursday friday. Then if he plays well he will play Sunday.

Yeah, now were talking, I' would love to see how Shero has developed since Oct. I don't think grabs has his game back yet, since his broken ankle. But the prospect of a puck handling wizard like Shero, to me more aptly replaces Demo. It would be great to see him get a chance.

I totally agree.

I have liked him long before he actually ended up coming, and was slightly disappointed in his first couple games.

I want to see what he looks like now.

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Raymond Kesler Shirokov
Bernier Wellwood Samuelsson
Glass Johnson Hansen

Keeping Hansen and Glass in gives us more guys that can move to the 3rd line if someone's not having a good game.

I figure that Shiro would go to the 2nd line for maximum potential.

Greetings from Bratislava, Slovakia to all of you. Demitra´s wife is ill, that´s why Demo returned to Vancouver. He´ll be back with Canucks on Thursday. Coach of our national team announced today. In my opinion, Demitra looked good in last two-three games. But I prefer Samuelsson or Grabner on the second line with Kesler and Raymond. I think Demitra has some chemistry with Wellwood. Anyway, I believe this year is the year...with or without Demitra :)

It's funny - with all the Grabner/Hodgson talk I completely forgot about Shirokov. He's leading the Moose in scoring right now and we know he's a smart hockey player.

What about tossing him on the third line along with Wellwood? Maybe two smart playmakers with good hands can create some chemistry. Throw in Hansen (since Bernier can't seem to hit the net) and we have a potential 3rd line.

As far as I'm aware it was a combination of a bad back from the hit from Boogard and a concussion after Malkin boarded him the game after.

I can't find video for the Malkin hit; but I think I got the Boogard one.

I think putting Jannik with Wellwood and Bernier won't be too unlike Raymond with Wellwood and Bernier last season.

I don't get this status thing with the lines. I'm telling you that 3rd line of Wellwood Bernier and Glass is going to be useless tonight. There is no harm in moving the talent around to get all the lines going. Swapping Raymond and Bernier, at least for part of the game, might just get both 2nd and 3rd lines going in the right direction, instead of just having a second line that works and nothing else, as has been the case lately.
Wellwood has been playing better lately, but never with Bernier as his line-mate.

If we're not going to trade Bernier at least give him one last chance with a line he hasn't played with and might do well with. Heck, call Kes-Sami-Bernier the third line if you have to, it really doesn't matter what their label is, just that they click with each other.

This whole pecking order BS is holding us back. Look at how the Sedin's reacted in Boston during that power play they only got to play 17 seconds. It's like they thought they had been demoted to the second line. This a mental distraction to the team that is unnecessary.

You're not part of a LINE, you're part of a TEAM.
