1 Sharks
2. Hawks
3 Nucks
4 Wings

to the second round.

Edited by tan, 27 April 2010 - 08:34 PM.

Major summer to do list:

Find a very very good play maker (some one like Bmo worked great in WCE era) to ignite both Kesler and Booth to 60+ points

Keep Lui and re-sign Cory for a short term and convince him, it is his best interest and Canucks'. We want to win the Cup while he is here. (After we win the Cup, don't care which goalie to keep)

Dump Ballard (4.2 mil) and sign Suter (cross finger) or some one like his calibre

The Hawks may get eliminated and in that case we get the Wings.

Let's not get carried a way. No team in the west finished a series yet.

Yeah I was just about to say, lets not get to far ahead of ourselves, sure we played like the team we all know we are last night, but this series is not over by any stretch of the imagination. Lets win this is 6 and then talk about potential opponents. And the blackhawks are tied 2-2 against a pesky Nashville team so they're not out of the woods either

To answer the op, probably. Which tbh is really crappy, Chicago is geting healthy and they are hungry. Either way if the Canucks advance, they are going to be playing as an under dog.

To the OP and the next comment...

What is the lesser of the two evils?

I'd perfer to play the Wings, because they are putting their faith into a goalie who is inexperianced and the average age of their core players is something like 31 years old. They could get fatiqued early in the series if we play a hard-nosed grinding game. Datsyuk and Zetterburg dissappeared until two months before the playoffs. Other than those two though, there are a lot of players who rely on garbage goals, and we can take away their net presence and shut down a big portion of their offense.

The Hawks are a very scary team. Any team that has an offense lead by the likes of Keith, Seabrook, Toews, Kane, and Hossa is a force to be reckonned with. However Niemi seems to breakdown after the puck starts to go past him and Huet hasn't played much recently (Ersberg anyone?). That fact may be a glimmer of hope for a non-reapeat should we take them on in the second round (even though we have improved drasticallly since that exit, we have lost Mitchell and possibly Rome/ Baumer, this implies more Andrew AlbertsPosted Image ).

P.S. Alberts did play well last night, but can he keep it up?

RIP Luc... Forever a Canuck in my mind.

Don't believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know, and you'll see the way to fly.

I hope we play the Hawks again. There will be revenge sought by the Canucks from last year. It'll be a tough series, but I think we'll come out ahead

I don't feel comfortable talking about next round yet.

What I will say is that I'd welcome the opportunity to play the Hawks and put those punks behind us for good.

does it really matter who we play? I, myself, don't care just as long as we go far.

But really, who's to say that we won't end up with the Avs? ;)

I sure hope the horse likes pushing, because in its current position in this thread, it sure as heck isn't pulling the cart. :P
People who label others as bandwagoners, people who tell other people "how" to cheer for their team, "how" they should act or what they should wear to "support" their team, people who only want to hear positive thoughts and don't want to read about how the team can do better - these are people who are insecure and uncomfortable within their own skin.

I'll support my team the way I choose, thank you very much. You can choose to support your team the way you want to, and I won't judge you on it as long as you don't try to force your beliefs on me. I'll also be quick to point out where I think the team can do better, because identifying that there is a problem is the first step to fixing it; denying or ignoring a problem won't solve anything.

Go Canucks Go.

I think we could take them, almost everyone is playing better than they were last year and they don't have the Bulin wall anymore.

GOOD! If we do make it to the second round and meet the Hawks, we'll crush them this time!!

They may have better D, but this year we have better offense and goaltender!

We need 4 wins to move on to the next next round, not 3. Don't get ahead of yourself.

As a Canuck fan I'd like to play the Wings because I personally think it night be a TAD bit easier serie to win but not by much.
But as a hockey fan, I'd like to play the hawks just because of the great serie it'll be.

The Avs ARE leading 3-2, and Chicago hasn't looked all that impressive against Nashvilee (Toews and Hossa are invisible)

The Sharks are the one who lead the series 3-2, aren't they ?

For the West, there is no weak teams as proven by the fact that most series are tied 2-2 at some point. It does not matter who you play, they are all hard to play.

SJ is leading 3-2... but either way, the match ups next round are going to be some damn good hockey. I don't care who the canucks are playing, as long as we get there!

I cared more for our first round opponents. I think we have a better chance against the Wings since we have home ice.

If the Canucks advance and play the Hawks, Luongo must be better than last time or they will lose again in 6.

It doesn't matter who we play at this point because we still have to win our own first round series. That being said it would be nice to get some revenge on Chicago but from here on in we have to play nothing but the elite teams if we want to go far so its more about how the nucks play than who they play.
