Roberto had a absolutely garbage year. The Olympics didn't help, but he was sucking harsh before that.

Basically quite similar to his season end press conference. B Mac and Rints asked questions that were discussed in the presser.

Thanks man. +1. Didn't get to hear it. I hope he is bang on regarding LU. If he isn't , his contract could really hurt this franchise for a long time.

I think the Hawks will win the cup too, but I think that will prove to be a huge positive for us. Seeing the team they hate the most hoist it will probably light a fire under our core players( especially Kesler).

I disagree that it was a garbage season, but inconsistent. Was injured, won 40 games and played a lot of hockey last season. He will bounce back, he is too competitive of a person not to.

No it was a bad season for sure. No other way to see it. He had a great Olympic camp though, so I am not so sure his ability has declined. I think his problem is personal, or mental. Maybe both.

Love Luongo to death, but it was a bad season based on expectations by himself and the fans, and everyone else. He came into the season ranked one of the best in the leauge. Had a slow start for a month then picked it up pretty damn good, then struggled again, wins a gold medal, plays mediocre rest of the way, were the team was winning for him, fans were hoping the playoffs will bring new hope, but as most fans called it during the season when he struggled.

"if he plays like this we are done in round 1."

he played like that in round 2, and were done in 6. On route too alowing over 16 goals in all 3 home games against the Hawks.
With that type of goaltending we stood no chance agains the Blackhawks. In round 2 he played like he did during the regular season.

,
Blackhawks Powerplays 28 1penalty shot 1 5 on 3 1 4 on 3 Canucks Powerplays 15 0 5 on 3's 0 4 on 3's through 6 games.

You guys are all correct for sure but that can labeled as inconsistency. The team was one of the best in the league and many high end players have highs and lows through their careers.

Id say an inconsistent season.

Using the phrase "garbage" though, id leave that to goalies that actually had a garbage season and effort.

Steve Mason comes to mind.

Toews/Keith/Seabrook seemed to have avoided the "emotional fatigue" bug unfortunately.
Is that similar to mental fatigue? Is emotional fatigue a real thing? I've never heard the term before.
Actually forget it, I'm thinking about his 12 year contract and experiencing some emotional fatigue myself.

I'm glad our GM has it figured out. There has been so much talk on CDC about the changes we need in the off-season being the same as a way to beat the Hawks.

Last year it was improving our speed and mobility. This year it's all about team toughness and grit. At the end of the day, we should be built to beat ANY team, by playing our own style, not having to change every game, season, etc just because of one team.

This city has a complex about losing to Chicago. I'm glad it hasn't affected our GM.

A little late to bring up emotional fatigue now. Problem is no one has the balls to tell Luo to sit when it is obvious he needs to for a couple games and we had already clinched the division. Luo is a prima donna in many ways and now Gillis is making excuses for him.

MG hold his feet to the fire next year and actually manage him or have AV actually coach him. He needs to be told when to sit, not decide on his own.

I'm wondering if he will play fewer games now that we don't have to worry about him becoming a free agent.
He's going to have to sit more or be put on stress leave to deal with his emotional issues.
I do like Luongo a lot, just not the contract or the excuses.

Gillis just talked about it by saying he wants a full-time goalie coach, which means Ian Clark is going to get canned.

Plus one for this. Thank you

Nobody GM in NHL history would have plans to keep someone as Captain but yet 'wont talk about it' like this.

He would have come out and said 'yes, hes going to be captain' .

And its for the best. The sooner we can cut this chord and let Lui get on with being our goalie and leading that way the better.

Hes not going to be captain for the next 12 years so lets get it over with and move on.

Give it to Ryan or co captaincy with Henrik.

Like the idea of the personal goalie coach for Lui . Like the idea of him spending a lot less time dealing with the media even more.

Melanson developed goalies such as José Théodore, Mathieu Garon, Jeff Hackett, Andy Moog, Jocelyn Thibeau, David Aebisher, Jaroslav Halak, Carey Price and Christobal Huet.
