They (Cougars) gave several thousand free tickets to elementary schools (my neighbors kid got them), so did my co-op directors kids (different schools). They needed to make the stands artifically full for Trevor Linden day in PG (no, I am not kidding).

Not surprising, how bad would it look to have 20 fans come up to Linden for a autograph, and then he's done for the night, they have to make the CN Center some what remotely full.

Playing this weekend in town? No.
Staying here for the weekend? Unlikely IMO, they have a game in Lethbridge Friday, then a game Saturday in Medicine Hat, and then have to head to Edmonton to play Monday. I think it'd be easier for them just to go from Medicine Hat to Edmonton, or stay over night in MH, and then over to Edmonton the next day.

They get an eastern road trip already?

It always seems the Giants are doing their big eastern trip around the trade deadline. That has to be a hollow feeling. Bus pulls over at the nearest town with a bus station or airport and the coach tells you where you are going and you get your bags off the bus.

Anyone know if Lucas Gore is going to be traded out of Chilliwack?

He didn't dress last night and Gamble got the win over Spoke.

Go Raiders....

The Raiders are also celebrating their 40th anniversary this season... I did not know that.

Also, why was that Brandon Herrod kid not drafted? He was eligible this last draft, and he had a pretty good year last season (70GP 37G 28A 65Pts +10 44PIM) It looks like he's continuing on this tread this season, 5G 5A 10Pts +6 in 6 games...) do scouts simply not make it up to PA? :P

Giants have now settled the goaltending situation and have traded Derek Tendler to Speedy Creek for a 6th round pick in the 2011 Bantam Draft.

No surprise really. Jensen isn't ready to start so Segal's job was safe. And with no first round pick in 2011 no real trade bait even if they wanted to go get a more established starter. Segal pretty much played himself out of a spot in the pre-season giving up some pretty soft goals and then getting torched 7-2 by Portland. He has skill, just lacking a little in focus at times it would seem.

So it would seem the Broncos will re-assign 17 yearold Austin Smith and go with O/A ex-Bruin Mark Friesen as the starter.

Good luck to Derek. By all accounts a really likeable youngman and good teammate.

Is there any word on what the league is going to do with Brendan Shinnimin after this check from behind? Has to be one of the worst check from behind I have ever seen, the kid does not even have the puck when he does it. I really hope Shinnimin is kicked out of league.

Yeah I do too.

But I think that as the season gets a little farther along with having it's own forum and not being stuck in General Hockey it might grow a little.

Nothing concrete yet but he is on the WHL suspension list. So as such he can't play until a ruling comes down.

2 games seems to be the standard for a CFB. But given the other player didn't even have the puck they might give more depending if anything happened before to lead up to this incident.

Shinnimin has always been dirty though. Elbows, spears, etc. Don't like the guy.

Yeah I know he was injured last season.

In his rookie season he played 65 of 72 games and had time away with Team Pacific at the U-17 tournament. Then played the 4 playoff games the Cougars had.

So what are you driving at?

Giants taking a 3-1 lead into the 3rd period over the Rockets.

Tvrdon, Mckay and Gallagher scored for the Giants. Sissons sandwiched a goal between Tvrdon and Mckay.

Giants are 2 for 4 on the PP, Rockets 0 for 6

You said he would be alright - not knowing what that means exactly, one should make those kinds of statements with some reservation given Connollys history of injury. If you were in PG (and not following from a distance) you would know that his injury was a little more complicated than reported.

I want to see this kid do well - very well, and I am not arguing with you. But there is a reason why pretty much every scouting report and GM analysis said the same thing - this kid is a high risk/high reward proposition. I really hope this kid stays healthy, but if I were Stevie Y - I would not have taken him. There is just too much risk involved and too much at stake for the Lightning (who arent exactly full of young prospects at this time either).

Yeah but there were those saying that coming off of that injury that he was going to squat as well.

There is too much BS around his situation with very little fact out there.

Glad I bought the Rockets Tips game and kept watching last night. Down 3-0 going into the third the Rockets rally and win the game 4-3 in a shootout. Very exciting game to watch :)

I did last year, when Connauton was playing for them. I find it hard to follow teams that the canucks do not have a vested interest in. I already follow all the teams our prospects play for; to the best of my ability ;)

Giants still have some awesome players that are worth listening to, such as Brendan Gallagher, David Musil and Craig Cunningham.

yeah, but unless they are canucks property I couldn't care less. If I still lived in Vancouver I'd follow them and attend the games, but as it is now, I just don't have the time.
