CANUCKLELION
Bump. didn't want to lose the thread. BTW, to all the Bieksa haters out there , great article here http://forum.canucks...-heavy-lifting/ Haters gonna hate. Thanks for bumping the thread, I suspected it would come back to life as soon as the season started + Bxa started screwing up again. If you think Bxa will ever be a consistent defender or that he intimidates anyone in the league, you are dreaming. Is this poster the the Bxa fan clubs motto? The Brahma Bull
I'd prefer someone consistent rather than someone that is good one day and terrible the next, especially for a d-man.

WL Canuck Fan
Gotta bump it again, lol This thread is epic, some of the greatest and most mindless battles of wits have gone on in this thread, some of which I have participated in. I will elave it to you to determine if my contribution was great or mindless, or perhaps a bit of both. Of course, the thread is getting low on the board because of Free Agent Frenzy, AND because while we may have plans to trade Lou, we have NO plans to trade KB3. Here's to another season of being in the top 15 scoring defencemen in the league. (and one of the grittier, lol)

Cromeslab
Bieksa IS overpaid.....and too cocky...and not willing to defend his teammates when it really matters.frack a couple lucky stanchions and people round here think he's a god. Just how much do you think a 40 point physical d-man that can play in any role is worth?
nuck nit
During the last 199 regular season games Bieksa has scored 17 goals. That is one goal every 11.7 games. All Canucks fans know Bieksa's strengths and weaknesses.Without Hamhuis Bieksa would be an average NHL d man prone to unsuccessful offensive pinching blunders that lead to putting his team behind and spending an inordinate amount of time in the penalty box. Don't know what you've been watching but from what I've seen Bieksa is one of the best on the team at pinching. If you're going to put numbers out at least include something for comparison. Here's some numbers for you.... Total stats the past two seasons..... Regular season: Even strength points Edler 59 Bieksa 53 Hamhuis 47 Even strength goals Bieksa 12 Hamhuis 9 Edler 8 Hits Bieksa 263 Edler 226 Hamhuis 179 Playoffs: Even strength points Edler 10 Bieksa 9 Hamhuis 4. Even strength goals Bieksa 6 Edler 3 Hamhuis 1 Hits Bieksa 98 Edler 93 Hamhuis 54 Now there was an article posted in another Hamhuis/Bieksa thread that went into both players performance with and without each other. Bieksa wasn't as good with any other d-man as he was with Hamhuis. But it also showed that Hamhuis wasn't as good with any other d-man than Bieksa. Contrary to fantasy belief they actually make each other better.
nuck nit
I put up his last three seasons-all with Hamhuis - and Kevin has 1 goal every 12 games. Kevin is also the second most penalized player on the Canucks so the play of Hamhuis is even greater than the stats suggest. Bieksa's pinching escapades are legendary. The team is at a disadvantage when a player takes endless penalties.Hitting is one thing, effectively hitting is another. Hamhuis and Edler can effectively isolate an offender without putting the team at a disadvantage. Past two regular seasons: Goals scored: Edler-19 in 133 games played Salo-12 in 96 games played Bieksa- 14 in 144 games played Hamhuis- 10 goals in 146 games played PP goals scored: Salo-8 PP goals in 96 games played (55 Career PP goals) Edler-10 PP goals in 133 games (21 Career PP goals) Bieksa-3 PP goals in 144 games played (16 Career PP goals) Hamhuis-3 PP goals in 146 games played (11 Career PP goals) Short handed goals scored: Salo-3 goals in 96 GP (24 Career SH goals) Edler-1 goal in 133 GP (1 Career SH goal) Hamhuis-0 goals in 146 GP (2 Career SH goals) Bieksa-0 goals in 144 GP (0 Career SH goals) Game winning goals scored: Salo-3 goals (24 Career) Bieksa-2 goals (9 Career) Edler-1 goal (1 Career) Hamhuis-0 goals (2 Career) Penalty minutes Bieksa- 167 penalty minutes in 144 GP (650 PIM in 425 GP) Hamhuis-80 penalty minutes in 146 GP (455 pim in 629 GP) Edler-58 penalty minutes in 133 GP (200 PIM in 386 GP) Salo--24 penalty minutes in 96 GP (252 PIM in 761 GP)

Actually that shows that Bieksa is getting more points with less ice time.
