aGENT
I wonder how many years this kid has been playing Mature-rated games... ...Not to mention watching porn. People can argue until the cows come home whether these have an effect on adults, but it's pretty clear they can be extremely damaging to the psyche of a developing mind. D-Money
Way to pull a theory out of absolutely nowhere. For all we know these kids were avid readers and didn't own a video game. And porn? Really? I watched a ton of porn as a teen and I never wanted to rape, murder, and mutilate a person and then set their remains on fire. Not even once. Pierre's_Monster
As much as part of me would love to see these two roast in a chair, "eye for an eye" is not the answer. We need to be better as a society than these monsters, not stoop to their level. I wish we could ensure they stayed locked up for life though. Being under 18 I think the most they can get is 25 years if they aren't paroled earlier for the murder. Hopefully the charges for sexual assault and forcible confinement tack on some extra time. Otherwise If I'm wrong and there's in fact a hell, I hope they burn in it.
Weaksauce
Off with their heads. They might be human but they do not deserve to live among us. I don't get how these kids are expected to change for the better after doing something like this.
aGENT
The kid is 16, and said he was dreaming of pulling something like this off for years - ie. pre-pubescent. Ideas are like seeds - someone has to plant them.
aGENT
How is eye for an eye not the answer..I doubt they're going to try them as adults because the kid is 16 and it is pretty much impossible to tell which one did more of the harm to the girl. If they go to jail, or more likely a juvenile hall they're going to get 3 squares a day, free classes, can work out all the time, etc. I don't condone killing somebody, but these guys do. Life imprisonment, no parole is nothing for taking the life of a 16 year old girl. Harsher punishments = less crime.
Wetcoaster
Sure, but wouldn't the 16 year old be eliglbe for parole in 25 years? I can agree that there should be SOME discression, but then again, like in a case like this, there should be the discression to go over the top in the sentancing. Steve Danger
They can be sentenced as adults and in that case the only sentence is life imprisonment without the ability to apply for parole for 25 years as they have been convicted of first degree murder. ronthecivil
Life imprisonment seems to be about the top of the food chain without the death penalty.
Duodenum
The story in the paper says 10 years. I believe this is more in line with the Canadian justice system than the 25 years you claim.
ronthecivil
1st degree murder as adults = 25 years without parole.

ronthecivil
I don't have a problem with that. They should probably check his brain though, as a lot of murderers are shown to have biological problems.

Pierre's_Monster
I believe they will in fact be sentenced as adults but regardless we don't do that because we are better than them. At least I am and IMO we as a society should be. Violence begets violence. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. etc...
aGENT
Dude, you're talking about letting this kids live relatively safe lives in prison where they will have things to better themselves readily available to them all the time. AFTER THEY JUST BRUTALLY KILLED SOMEONE. Doesn't seem right to me. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, yes. But sitting back and doing nothing gets you killed in the real world. EDIT: Sorry about that last sentence.
