Mats Froshaug scored 26 goals and 27 assists (tied for 3rd-highest on the team), and was +26 in 43 games during the regular season. He has scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 4 playoff games so far (tied for 2nd in points on his team), and has advanced to the semi-finals of the playoffs in the Norwegian league.

I haven't been able to observe Mats beyond statistics, but I hope that he continues to add to his impressive point total.

That's very good to hear! I wonder if Mats would be interested in giving Elitserien another try, or perhaps coming to Chicago for next season. It seems like he is the Ryan Kesler of the Norwegian League :bigblush:

As good as that sounds, it's in the Norway league, which doesn't say much. I'd love to see him get some time in Chicago to see what he can do in North American hockey.

Well to put up points like that while being a shutdown centerman is rpretty impressive.

He's got great size and great skating ability. He could very well be another Hansen type player for us.

53 points in 43 games is very nice, good for 7th overall in the entire league, and the only players above him are 28-32 years of age. i'm looking forward to him coming over to NA

Lørenskog IK has advanced to the championship final of the Norewgian League and will play Stavanger in a best-of-seven series.

Mats has scored 5G and 3A in 10 games so far (4th in points on the team), and has a +10 rating (2nd on the team).

I hope Mats can adapt his skills and experience to the NA game.

Is he actually interested in coming over to the NHL or is he happy with staying in Europe?

I remember Gillis was interested in bringing him to North America a few years back, hopefully he'll be interested in making the jump

Happy for him that he's experiencing some success in Norway. Could be one of those forgotten prospects that comes over to this side of the pond out of the blue and impresses. He was a late rounder in Gillis' first draft as GM in 2008. Seems like so long ago now.

I hope he does come over, if I remember correctly he was projected as a solid 3rd line checker with a bit of an offensive side with size.

technically, since he was drafted in 2008, after the 2005 change for europeans, and he was never signed to us, so he is technically no longer our property.

Why has he never been brought over for any prospects camp or any AHL camp???
He'd be like 22 or 23 now- shouldn't we take a good look at him?

I'm not 100% on whether we actually own his rights or not. I honestly don't believe we do.

I still think he should come over to NA to give it a shot while he's still young. You have the rest of your career to play at home in Norway if it doesn't work out.

Yeah, because no player has ever improved over a few seasons?

Tim Thomas & Cliff Ronning say hello.

As does Alex Burrows.

I can't remember how big Mats was last time he played in the SEL, but he is now 6'2/220 pounds. So if size was part of the problem maybe it isn't anymore. But then again maybe it never was.

The fact that he is destroying his point totals from last year and that he is 'known' as a defense-first forward should be a good sign. Hard to gauge how well he is playing though when you never hear/watch things happening in the Norwegian League.

Quick.........ship him over to the Wolves, where apparently our defenders aren't even"defence first"

Hard for them to do that - when they no longer hold his rights.

Should sign the guy and convince him to give the AHL a shot, could really help out the Wolves if he is as good as he seems.

Before some of you folks get ahead of yourselves, he playing Norway, hardly a hockey hotbed. Frøshaug has had only a cup of coffee in SEL. Until he's actually able to compete with the best in Europe, he'll be lucky to even be a role player in the AHL.

Pretty sure we lost his rights anyway. He was an overager upon being drafted, he's 24 now and has yet to sign any NHL deal.

He's gained 30 lbs, an inch and 3 years of pro experience dominating a league since his last time in the SEL, I think he could handle himself there at least.

I would just like to sign him, even if he doesn't turn out to be more than a 4th liner/defensive specilist at the NHL level (Which can still be useful) He could atleast help out the Wolves while we get a look at him in NA.

At the very least maybe he could help Arniel keep his job a bit longer.
