Wow Sessions signs with the Bobcats

Also get Brendan Haywood off waivers

Maybe they'll get more than 7 wins and have a higher win percentage than .106 next season?

Agent: Howard won't sign extension

ESPN The Magazine | July 19, 2012

The agent for Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard refuted reports that his client has decided he will sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers -- if traded to them.

"Dwight's position has remained unchanged since the end of this past season," said Dan Fegan of LaGardere Unlimited. "He fully intends to explore free agency at the end of next season, regardless of what team trades for him, including Brooklyn."

A source said the Nets never insisted Howard commit to an extension as a prerequisite for acquiring him, which Nets president Billy King confirmed in a text message.

Howard told the Magic, according to GM Rob Hennigan, he would like to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets above any other team. The Nets made concerted efforts to strike a deal for Howard earlier this month, but were forced to stop when the Charlotte Bobcats threatened to sign their restricted free agent center, Brook Lopez, to an offer sheet.

Lopez was expected to be a key part of any deal with the Magic and signing an offer sheet could have preempted including him in any deal, depending on the terms of the offer sheet. The Nets then signed Lopez to a four-year, $61 million deal.

Since then, the Lakers have become the primary suitor for Howard, recruiting both the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers as potential third-team participants to deliver the salary relief, draft picks and young talent that Orlando is seeking in return for their All-Star center.

The longest Howard could sign an extension, according to ESPN Insider's Larry Coon, would be two years if he signed with Orlando and was traded, or three years if he signed after being traded.

If he waits until his current deal expires, Howard would be eligible to sign a new five-year deal for as much as $108 million.

Now does this mean LA won't make a trade with the Magic or would they be willing to take the risk?

The Board of Governors on Thursday voted to expand the use of instant replay beginning this season and indicated that advertisements on jerseys, a revolutionary idea for the league, will be coming as soon as 2013-14

While no vote was taken on putting advertisements on jerseys for the first time, the discussion in the ballroom inside the Encore hotel on the Strip showed a strong preference to move forward, deputy commissioner Adam Silver said. The final decision will likely come in an e-mail vote in September and be implemented for 2013-14, giving teams the chance to line up sponsors and uniform makers the time to add the patch of 2 ½ inches-by-2 ½ just above the heart.

“My sense is that every team would do this in some form,” Silver said, indicating the mass support for the idea that has been years in coming, not to mention the mass support for the $100 million annually he estimates would be generated with the new revenue stream.

Oh boy...

Howard wasn't going to sign an "extension" anyways because he would lose 30 million. What was meant by the inital report is that Howard would re-sign with the Lakers on July 1st so he can get a max deal. The Lakers are very much in it still, Chris Broussard has Howard going to the Lakers eventually, hopefully it's soon.

Sources: Dwight Howard to Lakers A four-team trade that would send Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers is complete, multiple sources told ESPN on Thursday night. A look at what each team will receive if the NBA approves the deal:

TEAM RECEIVES IN TRADE

LAKERS Dwight Howard
NUGGETS Andre Iguodala
76ERS Andrew Bynum, Jason Richardson
MAGIC Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless

*- Magic also will receive a protected 1st-round pick from each of the other three teams
In addition, the Magic will be getting other pieces, including 76ers No. 1 draft pick Moe Harkless, a source told Stein.

Sources close to the process told Stein and ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne that a trade call with the league office has been scheduled for Friday to secure the necessary NBA approval to make the deal official.

76ers are just ruining the franchise, why would they trade Igoudala for so little, Bynum might not even stay and Richardson is old now.

Guess this sets up a couple years of Lakers vs Heat finals. Though, Durant and OKC could beat LA.. Nash is pretty old, so is Kobe. Scary teams though. I feel bad for any other team that isn't those three, Chicago had a chance but Rose is pretty much icky with his knee injuries. James in his current form + even better 3 pointer shooting on the heat = scary. They dominated even with Bosh and Wade being injured too.

Yea, Idk wtf they were thinking...

The Lakers starting five is ridiculous.

And the Heat thought they were good..

LAKE SHOW!!!!!!!!!

Kobe's got his work cut out for him; finally he can rest and come playoffs, he will get his mamba on and be lethal - Lakers vs Celtics/Heat finals, gonna be fun :)

Also, full trade report:

The Magic appeared on the verge – again – of trading Dwight Howard amid reports Thursday night that a four-team deal that would send Howard to the Lakers and generate a lot of heat for Orlando was set to be completed.
ESPN.com reported that a trade call has been set for Friday morningto finalize the blockbuster that would feature Los Angeles getting the defensive superstar, Philadelphia getting Andrew Bynumfrom the Lakers and Jason Richardson from the Magic, Denver getting Andre Igoudala from the 76ers, and Orlando getting Arron Afflalo and Al Harrington from the Nuggets, Nikola Vucevic andMaurice Harkless from the 76ers and one first-round pick from each of the three other participants.

Lakers definitely get better, though Bynum was already pretty good himself. I still think OKC has a good chance at beating them, they`re not the favorites, but they at least have a decent chance. They`re young and athletic and can run the floor better. By the time the playoffs come around, Nash will be 39, Kobe will be 34, MWP 32, Pau 32, and Howard 27. Tons of size there which will be a nightmare to guard, but the Lakers will def have a hard time containing the speed and athleticism of both OKC and Miami.

Took a quick look at updated vegas 2013 championship odds, and they`re as follows:

Miami - 3.15
LA - 4.4
OKC - 6
Chicago - 14

Looks like it`s a 3 team race haha.

This isn't 2007, fixed that for you.

And then the heat have Ray Allen and Rashad Lewis coming off the bench.

The issue for the heat will be at C, and I bet they find someone before the playoffs.

LA got better, but Maimi is still the favorite.

Bosh's numbers have been dipping since joining the Heat, while Gasol's numbers' has always been consistent throughout his career. Not only that, Gasol see his teammates better than Bosh does and plays better defense.
