Ya thanks guys with all the sarcastic remarks. Sarcasm is like a second language to me!
First off in order to get the channel it's on I have to pay extra. So the ppv argument is bs because the revenue generated all year for the hd sports package should be about the same as what they would get from inconsistent ppv subscriptions.
Second if they want more revenue then they should charge more for the commercials that they already air!
Thirdly, if sportsnet was a more legitimate channel maybe they would be more like TSN and not cut to commercial as often as sportsnet does.
Fourth, I pretty much guarantee that this is a trial and provided people don't complain this will be the new normal!
If we tell them how much we don't approve of it maybe they don't start putting it on reg SN games. And maybe TSN won't follow suit and then CBC.
I can't believe how conditioned we as consumers have become or how some people defend it so aggressively.
they can charge more for persistent advertising because people HAVE to see it when they watch the game, whereas people often get up to do other things (pee, grab food, etc) during commercial breaks. they CAN'T charge more for regular commercials.
Also, it's a business, their goal is to make money. No one says, "nope, I've made enough money, I'll forgo potential revenue because I have enough."
