A good wakeup call:

Had a rough sleep last night. House sitting at my sisters amazing waterfront home on the island. Man, the wind was just howling and the whitecaps were choppin away.

Even had my niece contact me at 3:30am asking if I should go to her house on higher ground....kinda freaky!

Deep earthquakes lead to other large earthquakes. This one is huge.

Glad you've highlighted Dutchsinse's youtube site. This bloke's brilliant(very informative)..perhaps controversial in methodology(?..hard to say); but appears to me, quite the pioneer in the science of earthquake forecasting.

Today he has a feature on the Venezuela 7.3 quake.

LOTS of Pacific Rim activity recently folks..50+ quakes of 4.5, + over a wk or so. Best to keep a bug-out bag(tasty vittles, H2O) stored in a handy place.

That report was right, there was that massive quake in Indonesia. I’ve never been more sure to go out and get an earthquake kit then I do now. These next coming weeks and possibly months will be interesting to see how accurate this becomes. Stay safe people.

Sounds like it was very deep and not on the trench. Could have been much worse. We all should be ready for a big one, given our proximity to a massive set of fault lines.

If by ready you mean terrified, I am.

I do have a kit (somewhere) and have moved things from bookshelves, etc. that could injure my buns (and me I guess).

But, mostly, it's something that consumes me if I think about it too much.  So I go watch hockey instead.  :)

it's good to be prepared deb

but don't become obsessive

you are still more likely to be hit by a car

ii assume you likely are fairly ok with driving daily

don't lose perspective

if you are feeling a bit panicky

take some comfort

watch usa news videos about trump

and relax in the knowledge that it does now appear

that his past misconduct is known
and likely have negative impact on him sooner then later

Injure buns? Bakery?

If you live in a low laying area you would want to seek higher elevation immediately moreso than worrying about a kit.

It will happen eventually, the earth has to let off stress and steam and she is not a hockey fan.
