The way I see this is similar to the off setting penalty and diving call people complain about in hockey. People complain about this but in a hockey game, if it is a legitimate hook or something and the guy embellishes it to make it worse, both are justifiable calls. Same deal here. Camilo clearly took an "inadvertent" tumble on the play, but buddy on SJ stuck his foot out when he was clearly beaten. Maybe Camilo should/could have been punished too, but it was still the right call.

'Caps finally got a big break from the refs. Soccer gods just paying us back.

Sooo dumb that Jay has to play in the All Star game on Weds, when the 'Caps play #2 team in the league RSL on Friday

I wouldn't look at it as a bad thing. He will be defending some of the best forwards/midfielders in the world (Torres, Meireles, Hazard, and Mata are all top quality players). Great practice and an even better experience.

I would assume he considers it an honour to be named to the all-star team.

He does, but regular season should take priority over a meaningless game. I don't think he plays more than 45 min MAX tonight.

MLS 3-2 Chelsea.

And well...DeMerit played the full 90.

2nd half GK Dan Kennedy's thoughts:

“Jay DeMerit is a beast…a beast,” Kennedy said. “He had four headers in the last seven minutes of the game. The ball seems to find him, and that means he’s always in the right spot.”

Hopefully he's good to go and not too tired for Friday's game.

Yeah, Demerit played the full 90 and according to most fans, the Man of the Match.

Good to see, but I hope he'll be in top shape for the game on Friday.

ugh according to Jays twitter he played the full 90 because the guy who was to play the 2nd half was hurt. It is an All Star game, they simply can bring other players?

He went to the ASG b/c he is the best defensive player in the league, and because of that it is unlikely be able to play on Friday.

Why wouldn't he play? Every single game we've played in July has been 3 or 4 days apart. Even if he is dead tired for some reason after a days rest from a non-competitive game, Rochat can easily fill in in the middle and Harvey take the left. The combination of Robson, Koffie, and Davidson in the midfield helping out defensively has probably taken a lot of workload off the defenders.

Playing one of the better teams in the league you can really only hope for the best anyways!

Jay may look like Superman sometimes on the pitch, but 2 days off, and a plane ride thrown in there will wear anyone out.

Don't professional hockey players do exactly this for 6+ months? Not to mention the sport hockey players play is more physical and wears you down more. Jay should easily be able to play.

Hockey's more physical, but there's also more padding and less actual time played.

Running with high-intensity bursts for 90 minutes with essentially no protection in a game where there still is some physical contact is quite wearing,

Haha, try running and jumping for 90+ minutes. And during those 90minutes, falling down hard and getting back up dozens of times. It's gonna wear your body down.

Lenarduzzi said DeMerit has a calf contusion from ASG and is still questionable for tonight's game.

Hmmm....if falling down was that hard on the body, you wouldn't think thet there'd be so many players doing it on purpose....
