Just proof of a basic truth. As Jean Chretien would say:

A proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof. And when you have a good proof, it's because it's proven.

Of course an additional factor of length of time of being a CDC member also impacts upon "the legitimacy on a poster's point of view and opinion." :)

But you need some knowledge before throwing words like decomposition rates out there and claiming that the body has been dead for 7 years, so they couldn't get DNA information and that's why they're not releasing it...blah blah blah.

If we can get DNA from flora and fauna that have been dead for thousands or even hundreds of thousands of times longer than 7 years.....we could certainly still extract it from a dead corpse that's 7 years old.....but, my point was that the rate of decomposition for the body would have all been documented, through photographs, and other data collection methods.....not to mention we have the eye witness testimony of OBL's wife who says she saw them shoot him...other than that....it's pretty clear, it was him and he's dead.

If you don't put much weight on 'national security' then you probably have never been charged with the duty of protecting someone else from harm, either from forces outside of them or even from themselves. So it's easy for you to just discard that out of hand and use it as an 'excuse' to not give you the info you're looking for. Well, I can assure you that people who are charged by the ellectorate to defend and protect them, expect them to do it with waver, for as long as it's their duty. Parents on this board will also know what i'm speaking of in terms of protecting those in their care, whther it's from others, or from themselves. If you aren't one Bugger, or have never been in that position in life of having to protect others...you'll never understand what i'm talking about it seems.

It's not pissing the off a little more...it's about creating an image to be used as a rallying and fomenting point, now and foever. Tactically, you want to guard against that....again, if it's your duty to protect people.

Peoples's religious beliefs and they're rights to have their religious beliefs and rituals protected are not any more trivial than our right to equality and other rights and freedoms. Showing a lack of respect to a religion that has shown on numerous occasions of extreme violence n the face of disrespect would absolutely be a stupid move by the U.S. gov't and military. If you cannot understand that...then you have a very poor ability to comprehend simple concepts. I don;t believe you lack that basic comprehension, from your posting history here....so i'm left to determine that you're possibly being willfully obstinate in saying that you understand the reasoning and understand why it's important to not incite radical muslims further.

The government is serving the people by protecting it from outside threats based on not releasing the photo right now. It's not the right of any citizen to willfully and existentially endanger themselves or others to satisfy a curiosity....the gov't has the right, again given to it 'by the people and for the people' to prevent that if and where it can. That why gov't agencies can hold/detain/arrest you if you've been deemed to be a danger to yourself or others. If some people want to satisfy their curiosity and give up some of their security, then they're as stupid as they come....but they don't have the right to do it at the expense of others. Releasing this photo could e a potential for violence or death against every American at home or abroad.

What's shocking is that this is even necesary.

For years I thought he was already dead. Now I am 99.9% certain he is dead.

As for that 0.1%? I think the arguments against showing me a ghastly picture are good enough. I have seen enough of JFKs head explode to last me a lifetime I don't need to see any more snuff films thanks.

And if they are lying about it? So what? What possible difference does it make?

What photographs? That's exactly the problem. They didn't release them, so we don't know exactly what the heck is going on. Changing the story from day to day doesn't help their credibility either.

Did I mention anything about decomposition rates, or the inability to extract DNA from a 7 year old corpse? I just threw that out as an example of what they could be hiding from us (as implied by the "for all you know..." clause). It could have 30 bullet wounds, instead of the official count of 2, and an endless number of other possibilities. But if they won't show it to us, we'll never know.

The more they hide from us, the more we have to take their word with a grain of salt. If they decide that the country's security depends on it and not release the photos, they're going to have to weigh that against their credibility and fuel for the critics.

The photos of him have not been released...however, photos obtained by Reuters from the Pakistanis have ben release showing the bodies of his body-guards, all headshots too, iirc, as well as the eye witness testimony of Bin-Laden's wife who was shot in the leg prior to seeing Osama get a headshot as well.

And yeah, stuff changes, when you don't have all the nuanced information but are attempting to inform the the vulturous public in a timely manner without being trumped by over-zealous reporters and Pakistani officials.

Sometimes...in the rapidity of getting as much info out there, things may get need to be clarified for the sake of accuracy, clarity or reality, days later.....do you think this is the first time fresh information has to be confirmed or checked and then changed?? What world do you live in that everything is perfect on the first go around??

And the fact that you just threw it out there...goes to show how people just throw things out there without looking into things a bit deeper before running to the default position that the gov't is lying to you and it's a conspiracy!!

And finally, they weight the critics responses and still felt it was necessary to not inflame murderous terrorists even moreso for the sake of the general public safety. If you don't like it...go and run for public office and spill all national security secrets and go on ahead and endanger the public that you swore to protect....let's see how that works out for ya.

So, Osama bin Laden is standing before God waiting to hear his punishment, when God gets a tap on the shoulder. Behind him stands 343 firefighters, 72 police officers, one K9 officer, 3,000 American citizens & over 5,000 soldiers. "Don't worry, God, we got this!"

“When facism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”-Sinclair Lewis

A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."-Albert Einstein

Well, the story from the Americans keep changing. There was no firefight since only one out of five people killed had a weapon. So where were all his bodyguards? If you were the most wanted man in the world, wouldn't you surround yourself with dozens of body guards?

Something is fishy going on here.

How many of Osama's victims are Christians? children are saved, but adults or those who are old enough to tell right from wrong but don't believe in God might be on the same boat as bin Laden on the final judgment.

Nonetheless, however Osama was killed, he is dead and justice is served. all the reports and statements on how he died aren't necessary. Should he be tried? Probably, but if you know for sure that he is the is the perpetrator for the crimes that he committed, then just get it over and done with. After almost ten full years since the terrorist attacks, the last media coverage that anyone want to see or hear would be an Osama trial. It was same for Saddam, get it over and done with quickly.

Regarding the right to be tried, Osama indirectly killed thousands of innocent people who were unarmed, so whether he died unjustly or not, or how he died, it's a moot point.
