Wow, it looks like it was a battle of the SEL's Brynas IF goaltenders tonight.

Jacob Markstrom of the San Antonio Rampage vs our own Eddie Lack of the Chicago Wolves

Two behemoths - Markstrom being 6'6" 195lbs, Lack being 6'5" 193lbs

Both played for Brynas IF in SEL before coming over - with Markstrom being the starter, and Lack being his backup. Being Markstrom's backup was one of the reasons why many teams overlooked him (kind of like Pekka Rinne playing behind Nicklas Backstrom - except here, Markstrom is younger and better).

Final score was 2 - 1 for San Antonio, Markstrom stopping 27 of 28 and Lack stopping 28 of 30. The ex-starting goaltender of Brynas IF gets the better of his old backup. Lack has come a long way though, from backup to being able to compete against the next great Swedish goaltender in Markstrom.

Wolves lone goal scored by Yann Sauve - assists by our best center prospect Jordan Schroeder and another ex-Brynas IF player Anton Rodin.

Besides, if we need more talent in the lineup, we'll just take it from Florida's...

And the return on any Schneider deal, if it happens, will be fairly significant.

The time to win is now, but that doesn't mean our prospect pool is thinning. Far from it. We have tons of depth on RW, D and C. Not so much on LW and C, but those are the positions the current Papa Canucks are ultra-deep in at the moment.

Not worried. Not worried at all. Cheers.

Wolves got curb stomped by the Admirals 6-0 tonight. Schroeder somehow escaped the game with an even +/- rating. Polasek & Bitz both -3s, Mancari -2 and a bunch of other dash ones...

Edit: Oh, and Climie was in net for the entire game, 36 shots...

It must be tough on the Wolves/Moose, playing for a chance to make it to the NHL and watching top prospects like Hodgson, Shirokov and Grabner who earned promotions told that they are not what the Canucks are looking for and get traded away. Same thing will probably happen to the D prospects next after being knocked down another notch on the depth chart by Gragnani.

What exactly do the prospect play for? A chance to be traded to another team so they can get a fair chance?

I think the Canucks come across as treating their prospects like crap. And I think it will come back to haunt them.

Also interesting is that the Wolves owner is looking into getting into the NHL - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/chicago-wolves-owner-interested-in-seattle-franchise/article2340773/

Or maybe they'll look at the situation.

You have to be a patient player to make the Canucks - arguably the best team in the NHL and it will pay off for you.

Look at Schneider, look at Tanev and look at Cody.

All of whom are probably better players than they would have been had they been developed with CBJ or NYI.

surprising to see Stefan Schneider and Antoine Roussell not make the cut especially Roussell who looked like he was playing a lot of a Max lapierre role on the team.

Even more surprising is that Kevin Doell got the nod, that guy hasn't seen action for a while, not sure why they reserved him.
