France and Denmark have so far made one appearance each at the World Junior Hockey Championships.

we need a pure sniper...speed, skills, and can be physical...

So either Shiro or Rodin, then.

Good to see one prospect to watch.

Hopefully we get some more players to watch in the WJHC.

The only knocks on this guy is that he disappears from time to time. That should be fixed in no time with us. We have the most consistent and hardest working Dane in our system named Jannik Hansen who should show him the way into the big leagues.

the disappearing act was from the first half of the season, where he was still getting adjusted. apparently the second half of the season he turned it on, was the best player on the ice more often than not, and really stepped it up in the playoffs.

as good as it gets for a team picking 29th. I like this pick

his only weakness is addming more strength and being more consistent. Done. He does everything else pretty well. Lets evaluate this pick in a few years.

Well, I , I feel very good about this draft, but I, I think, potentially you know were gonna have 3 or 4 NHL players out of this group, ummmm, you know like we are not going to prejudice to were they are from.

According to the Draft combine results, he's actually 6'2.25" and 202 LBS. the 187 was out of date info.

How do you turn down a big winger, with scoring ability, playmaking ability, great wrist shot, and a nose for the net at 29th overall? You don't.

Hope the Canucks trade up, and pick Jurco still.

I find it funny how people bash him hard to his inconsistencies, what do you expect this kid still has much to fill out in his game. Its like they expec these junior players to be gods before they step into the NHL

Its not really alarming that he doesn't put numbers up everynight, its the work ethic Im more concern about. If he brings a soldi game all around each night, and can put up points along with it, I m very happy with that.

Especially having Jannik Hansen to take him under his wing, Hansen's work ethic will rub off on Jensen. Solid pick

Like most PF's they are still very raw so give this kid a couple of years to fill out his potential body frame and the little necessities and he will be a good solid player for us.

I like that we picked someone who's actually the tallest person in the selection photo for a change. Last time it was Schroeder and he was the shortest guy there by a country mile.

Edit: I liked the quote from the scout that said that if he had boones' skating ability, he'd be a top 3 pick. Skating can be worked on, though it doesn't sound like it's a huuuge issue for him, just that he's not mason raymond. Bob Mckenzie still said he has tremendous speed.

He sounds eerily similar to grabner. The same knock of being inconsistant too.

Can't wait to see Jensen in the coming years, it will be a treat to see a prospect in Canada's pool in Calgary/Edmonton as well. Jensen will obviously be sent back down to the Generals next year to develop his game more and work on his consistency. Is there a timetable for his arrival in Vancouver (3-4 years maybe)?

The biggest knock on Grabner too is that he was unwilling to go to the dirty areas, which doesn't seem to be a problem with Jensen.

I bet if this guy had a bit better first half of his season, and was from Canada and not Denmark, he would have gone top 10.

I'm not gonna lie, I wanted the nucks to take Saad or Jurco... I knew about Jensen beforehand and I'm glad we took him. He looks like he has decent speed for a power forward and his shot is deadly. I'm also liking the Rick Nash comparison :)

Thank you Mike Gillis !

All of these players are just names and stats at this point. It's what you do to help develop them in the next 3-4 years that's going to make the difference.

I have faith that the Canucks have the proper resources in place now to help this kid develop to his potential.

Solid pick by MG. Didn't really know anything about the guy beforehand but the more I read about him, the better he sounds. The Canucks finally have a gifted power-forward in the system. Hopefully they can trade up early on tomorrow and pick up Tomas Jurco as well.

I have NHL 11 for ps3 and it never breaks down the potential for Offence, Defense, and Athleticism. Unlike NHL 10, it just gives me a simple A, A-, B, B- etc potential overall :(

I said it in the other thread in Canucks Talk, but it could be quite helpful to have Hansen to help him transition. They could room together and Hansen could teach him work ethic and hitting and maybe learn a little himself about how to finish a play!

Assuming he makes it that far. His size will help him but he's almost a lock to be sent down. He just spent a season adjusting to the NA game against juniors so he needs to continue that development and learn to use his size more while dominating a little.

It'd be nice to see the line combo suggested earlier with Cody at center and Rodin or Shirokov, or even Hansen on the other wing for a 3rd line option.

Watching clips of him and reading what people have to say about him, (as well as his physique) think we've got a Wotek Wolski on our hands. Hopefully he brings more of a gritty game and consistency then Wolski, but he definitely has similar dirty mitts/shot/skating ability.
