exactly!

in all reality, it's probably going to be an innocuous quasi-announcement of something already known (like nintendo getting co-ownership and exclusive right to Fatal Frame, which would be amazing on the wii u by the way).

Wii U not only runs CryEngine 3 but also as powerful as Xbox 360 says Crytek CEO
Jeremy Nichols
There's been a lot of questioning as to the power behind theWii U, and more we find out abotu the system the less we find out about what's under the hood. Nintendo is currently playing it's cards close to it's vest, I think not only to keep people from throwing trash at them but also to keep the competition guessing.
Crytek CEO, Cevat Yerli had a few words to say about theWii U last night, and what he had to say should interest and impress just about anyone. Well, anyone that knows a thing or two about game engines.
Yerli spoke to CVG recently, saying that while he doesn't see his company developing a game for the Wii U, he thinks highly of the system and is allowing Cryteks powerful CryEngine 3 be used in a game for the Wii U. The CryEngine 3 is currently being used to power Crysis 3, the upcoming FPS sequel to the visually impressive Crysis and Crysis 2.
"It doesn't mean that CryEngine 3 doesn't run on Wii U – it actually runs beautifully. In fact, there actually is a game in development from a respected developer that we will be announcing. I've seen the game running and it looks really great," said Yerli.
When asked how powerful Nintendo's Wii U console is, Yerli said, "minimum as powerful as Xbox 360."
Now keep in mind, we don't know what game is being developed for the Wii U and powered by the CryEngine 3. For now, it's anyone's guess. However, if it takes advantage of how powerful the engine is, and the Wii U can keep up with the Xbox 360, Nintendo may have a winner here.

if the wii u runs the cry engine 3 (rumoured to be almost as powerful as the unreal engine 4) then the Wii u is going to be amazing, and I have a feeling UE4 will run on it as well.

maybe, maybe not. it will help the game come out faster, but hopefully the namco team is just working on the 3DS version, and not the wii u version. it'd be a shame if they screw up the wii u version.

Namco Bandai Developing Next Smash Bros.
Looks like a new team will be developing the next Smash Bros. project.
by Audrey Drake JUNE 21, 2012

UPDATE: A few new details have been revealed regarding Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. Tetsuya Akatsuka (the art and sound director for the SoulCalibur series) and the main development team from the Tekken series will be working on the project alongside Director Yocrapo Higuchi (Tales of Vesperia) and Producer Kenya Kobayashi (Ridge Racer).

ORIGINAL STORY: It was revealed during today's Nintendo Direct Broadcast that Namco Bandai will be developing the next Super Smash Bros. games alongside Kid Icarus team Sora. The titles were previously announced for Wii U and 3DS. Series creator Masahiro Sakurai will still be heading up the project, which is normally developed by his HAL Laboratory team.

Yocrapo Higuchi, who produced Tales of Vesperia, will be the games' director. Namco Bandai's Kenya Kobayashi (Ridge Racer) will be producing the titles.

Straight from EA: “Whatever we release on the Wii U will not be a cartoony, dumbed-down, arcade football experience. It will be the real deal, HD simulation football.”

Adding characters from the Tales series would seem quite appropriate for a Smash Bros game. The side-to-side combat system from Namco-Bandai's RPG franchise could certainly be expanded even further in the next Smash Bros installment.

The problem with the Wii U is that its competition will seemingly be the PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360. Unfortunately, Sony and Microsoft still have time to improve their upcoming platforms. Their latest products may be even more powerful, and Nintendo could once again be left behind.

This seems like the exact gameplay from the DS. The only difference is that its one bigger screen and now they finally implement the 360 sticks. I'm pretty disappointed that Nintendo could only come up with this

But because it's being made by Nintendo, it'll sell very well. But then after a couple of years, people will realize how gimmicky it really is, and it'll completely die off like how the Wii did.

Yeah but even though everyone hates on the Wii now, it was actually really fun when it first came out. It seemed really cool with all the motion sensors and wii sports things. Then SSBB....that ate up hours of gameplay. After Brawl there just weren't any good games anymore. I mean, I don't regret buying a Wii, its just it kinda died now.

Unreal Engine 4 "not intended for Wii U." It can run UE4 games, Epic just has no intention of making that happen themselves. Considering their history, I'm not really surprised.

intendo Power confirmed Mighty Switch Force HD is coming to the Wii U eshop.

The PS3 is a more powerful system. The problem is when developers are working on a cross-port game, they simply make something that will work on both.

Take a game that is specifically designed to take advantage of the PS3's abilities - such as Uncharted 3 - and you can see the differences.

Sega Gives Wii U Release Date
July 16, 2012 3:14 PM EDT | BY LUKE CAULFIELD

In a press release announcing the addition of Wreck-It-Ralph to the roster for Sega's Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, they seemed to have let slip something FAR more interesting. The release date for Nintendo's new console, the Wii U.

Wii U

As the press release reads, "Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo's Wii U, and Windows PC Digital Download this November."
It seems like Ralph just wrecks everything...Nintendo however, has yet to officially comment on the release date.

For anyone interested in the full press release and details for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, read on.
PRESS RELEASE
SEGA is delighted to announce that the title character of Walt Disney Animation Studios' upcoming comedy, Wreck-It Ralph, will appear alongside Sonic the Hedgehog in the highly-anticipated racing video game Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The thrilling racing adventure allows players to race through land, air and water in new dynamic tracks inspired by classic SEGA video games. Wreck-It Ralph's unique transformable vehicles and signature All-Star move will make for some of the best racing around when he lines up against other All-Stars such as Sonic, AiAi and Danica Patrick, in both single player and multiplayer game modes.
"Wreck-It Ralph will make a great addition to our stellar cast in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed," said Masanao Maeda, Chairman and Chief Content Officer, SEGA of America. "Disney has created a unique film experience that will appeal to gamers of all ages, and our video game collaboration will give fans the opportunity to interact with their character on the small screen as well."
"To have Wreck-It Ralph included in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is a dream come true," said Rich Moore, director of the animated feature filmWreck-It Ralph. "The film pays homage to the video games I loved as a kid, including Sonic the Hedgehog in a special cameo, so being able to see Wreck-It Ralph in a real video game alongside Sonic and other iconic SEGA characters is unbelievably exciting for me and should be a treat for fans!"
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo's Wii U, and Windows PC Digital Download this November.

nothing new there, speculation has been a november release since last year.

Developer: Borderlands 2 on Wii U would be amazing
July 16th, 2012

Posted Image
Developer Gearbox never held back in their praise for the Wii U. They were one of the first developers to come out and fully support the new Nintendo console with Aliens Colonial Marines. In fact, they’ve said numerous times that the Wii U version of Aliens Colonial Marines will be the best looking one.
In a new interview with Dealspwn, Gearbox founder Brian Martel says he thinks the Wii U is a “really cool platform”, and that it’ll be interesting to see how Microsoft and Sony respond to the touchscreen controller with their next gen consoles. They have sort of responded already, with SmartGlass and Sony’s Vita cross-play.
“If Borderlands 2 was on the Wii U, the thing I would be most excited about is inventory management: it would be amazing on that” Martel said about the upcoming Borderlands 2 first person shooter. He added that the artwork on the Wii U would look better because the console can handle higher resolution textures. Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the highly successful Borderlands, and is a cross between a first person shooter and role playing game, where players continuously gather loot and items.
So far, Gearbox is waiting for publisher 2K Games to give a green light for the Borderlands 2 Wii U port. However, 2K Games isn’t in a hurry, they’re waiting to see what happens with the Aliens Colonial Marines Wii U version before investing in more ports.

"Rise of the Guardians" Game May Narrow Wii U Launch Window
BY MICHAEL EPSTEIN | JUL 17, 2012 | 11:45 AM

Posted Image

Rise of the Guardians, a video game tie-in to the upcoming movie of the same name, is expected to come out for Wii U on November 23rd in Europe, according to D3Publisher.

Though Nintendo has said they plan to launch the Wii U before the end of 2012, the console-maker has not made mention of a release timetable for the console or any of its games. The release date for Rise of the Guardians may provide an outside date for the Wii U release window, just in time for Thanksgiving and the critical kickoff to the holiday shopping season.

The game, which is also coming out for Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on the same day, will hit stores just ahead of the film's European theatrical release on November 30th.

As we've mentioned in past articles, video games generally come out in North America a few days before they do in Europe: American retailers expect Rise of the Guardians: The Video Game to launch in North America on November 20th.

In Rise of the Guardians, players take control of childhood legends like Santa Clause, Jack Frost, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and Sandman, to fight an evil nightmare-making spirit. The game will feature upgradable abilities and four-player drop-in, drop-out co-op play.

Nintendo has said they plan to reveal their launch plan for the Wii U this fall.

the game is probably crap, but nov 20 sounds about right for a launch date for the wii u.
