OK! So this thread was off the first page after a long time I guess. Lets get on with the goods.

All positive news right now.

http://www.vg247.com...ly-speculative/
EB games confirms that the $600 price tag they put on the Wii U was just a speculation and isn't even in the store's system yet. It is just a placeholder.

http://www.nowgamer....oject_cars.html

Slightly Mad Studios is reported to have Wii U dev kits. They are working on a Need for Speed project set to release in 2013 for Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. I guess this shows pretty good third party support so far.

ign article says 720 is only going to be 20% more powerful than the wii u, so if that's the case, then the difference will be negligible (especially at this high end of graphics) , and if you go off of that article as well, that makes the 6 times as powerful as the 360 in direct conflict with the first article saying wiiu being only 2 times as powerful (though every time i read about dev systems they keep saying unfinished and underclocked for the wii u, so i guess we won't know what the real power is until right before launch.)

Good news for the Wii U fans, bad for the guys who voted the 720.

http://ingame.msnbc....as-of-this-year
Wii U will launch at the holiday season.(Confirmed)

http://www.tomsguide...news-13994.html

Xbox 720 will NOT play used games. What? I was excepting more than that . I can see EB Games going bankrupt.

http://www.computera...-e3-reveal-ono/
More good news! Wii U will have many more features than shown at E3.

Wii u might be renamed, after it's name's poor reception
http://wii.ign.com/a.../1217316p1.html

Personal Accounts for Wii U - Nintendo will now allow personalized accounts for its next home console, which will allow multiple users per system. Online profiles will no longer be system-based. "We will also be able to construct and offer the [personal account system] by combining a variety of different services and content," Iwata said.
http://wii.ign.com/a.../1217360p1.html

wii will have NFC possibilities that expand product innovation and merchandising opportunities... could be cool, read more here:

The name sounds fine to me, but it will be even more hated if they change it at this time. People are going to make alot of fun of Nintendo for that. But what will they call it. It might be called "Stream" that was predicted before it was announced as Wii U.
If the online is a fail, Wii U is a a fail. Its true. Online is mostly what we game for. They will most likely call it "Nintendo Network".
But I still don't understand what nfc is?

I think this is the best thread about a gaming console in the whole forums. It keeps everyone updated, with the latest news. I feel proud to be a part of it. And a lot of thanks to avelanch for creating this thread. No one could've ever put all that effort and time into this.

the wii used to be called project cafe, not stream. stream was a speculation over the name, which was wrong.

they already announced that their new online service is going to be called the Ninetndo Network, it's in the 2nd link i posted.

NFC is basically a RFID card reader. what they are talking about is embedding a RFID chip into cards or figurines and such, and then allowing you to buy them and then just swiping it by the console (or tablet) and it would read the info on the card and unlock items in your game, or fill up your points or such. in the context mentioned, it's just a physical way of providing what would normally be downloadable content, but it could open up even more possibilities. for instance, a pokemon game where you buy your pokemon figurines and then place them on the tablet to call them into battle, or a FPS where you buy a figurine of a character and that unlocks that character in the game, or a new gun, or outfit. it would also allow for you to unlock items in a bunch of games from a single physical item (unlock sonic in smash brothers by scanning your sonic figurine from a sonic game). stuff like that.

This looks very promising. I've been a fan of Nintendo stuff since I was 3 or 4, and it's looking like the Wii U will live up to my expectations. Can't wait for Pikmin's return.

I guess you mean Wii U was Project cafe. The Wii was called revolution.
And thanks for the info about the nfc.

What do you think they could possibly rename the Wii U?

yeah, the wii u.

in my time on this earth, i've learnt not to try to tell what nintendo might do next. :P Nintendo Cafe seems a little too boring to be a real name, but I never though they would go with the Wii either. I'd like them to bring back the revolution name, i was kinda pissed they dropped that for the Wii.

But those were just code names. I don't think they would use those.

I personally think a lot of people who bought the Wii and then realised it wasn't as fun as they thought won't plan on buying a Wii U.

Basically I see the Wii U having great sales but won't have record sales like the Wii just because all those people who bought the Wii regretted it.

I have a Wii too, play it everyday, but the only thing that I found disappointing was the very small library of games. I don't really care about HD and graphics, but it would have been nice if the Wii had HD. I have thought of getting a PS3 alot of times, but since I found out about the Wii U, the PS3 was gone. (from my mind)

For all you guys that think Nintendo is coping Sony - http://www.inenterta...ther-way-round/ The patent was filed in 2010. The Wii U was announced in June 2011. Do you guys possibly think Nintendo made all that in 1 year? I don't think so.

http://www.n-europe....s.php?nid=16768
New games coming towards the Wii U.

http://www.deccanchr...g-too-early-598
Is the Wii U coming too early, I don't think so. If they don't release it by the end of the year, I'm done with Nintendo.

Xbox 720 rumors are back!
http://www.computera...troller-report/
The above link claims it will have a Wii U like controller.- "Writing in its latest issue, XBW's sources report the next Xbox "will be a matt-black media hub with a mission to bring games to life in your living room with augmented reality, directional sound, and a four-player, finger-tracking Kinect."

The mag claims Microsoft is experimenting with a tablet-like controller with a shape closer to Sony's PS Vita than Wii U's "bulky unit"."- The report reads and so on. But what really pisses me off is that it says Wii U has a bulky controller????

http://www.geek.com/...oller-20120211/
Next article has a different picture of the controller. In which it look almost the same as Wii U .

Somewhat these pictures don't really make me think this will be real. 2 different websites= 2 different pictures.
Now all nintendo needs is a multi touch display and full 3rd party support. And ability to play used games would also be nice, Since Xbox 720 won't have that.

they obviously don't have the real controller pictured, just a mockup based on initial "reports"/rumours.
