Alexandre Grenier | RW

The next couple of years will be very telling for Grenier. He'll need to be able to compete and be effective against stronger competition. Remember Pierre-Cedric Labrie? Similar prospect who put up 35 goals and 63 points in 68 games in 2006-2007; his first full season in the QMJHL as a 6'2 212lbs overager. While he did manage 8 games for TBL this season, he's 25 now and will likely never be more than a depth player.

Let's hope Grenier's skating and work ethic will separate him from other big bodied, late-blooming overagers who put up good numbers in junior but struggled translating that success to the pro game.

Grenier scored the lone goal for his Halifax Mooseheads in 6-1 loss to the powerhouse Saint John Sea Dogs today. The goal was his 24th of the season. He also managed to finish with an even rating, despite the lopsided score.

Grenier scored a goal and an assist and finished with a +2 rating for the Halifax Mooseheads in their final game of the regular season. Halifax finished with a 39-22-7 record and 6th place overall in the QMJHL (no conferences in the Quebec league) so they are playoff bound. Looks like they will face the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the first round.

2011/2012 regular season stats for Alexandre Grenier:

64 GP, 25 goals, 39 assists, 64 points, -2, 42 PIMS

On a somewhat related topic, MG should effort to get the 1st round pick for the 2013 draft from whatever team his advanced stat geeks project to finish last next year. This MacKinnon kid will be a monster. Perhaps as part of the upcoming Schneider deal, since GMs, not doubt thinking their teams will do better next year, seem willing to part with future as opposed to current year's pics more readily.

The Sedins are slowing and elite teams don't last long without elite talent.

Bad teams don't usually trade 1st round picks but a team that might be the worst again next year is Columbus so how about 2013 first and something else for schnieder

IMO, any team with Schneider backstopping them is in good hands and won't come in last in the NHL.

So using Schneider to try and get the 1st overall pick from next year seems a moot point.
