Joel Heyman
LaBate just made two nice passes and ended up with an assist off of Wisconsin's 2nd goal. Even though he's playing 4th line minutes with 2nd PP responsibilities he's been playing a lot and has looked good.
Joel Heyman
LaBate just made a great effort in fighting through 3 guys controlling the puck, managing to poke the puck to his teammate from his knees at the end. He's shown great puck control so far.

DeNiro
why is he 4th line? It's an exhibition game. They just wanna get a look at some of the other players pushing to make the team. Labate should be the first or second line center at the start of the season.
Joel Heyman
Yup, the announcers brought up that the 4th line for the Badgers would be a 3rd or 2nd line on any other time.
DeNiro
How is it that a college exhibition game has coverage, but an AHL exhibition game doesn't?
Joel Heyman
How is it that a college exhibition game has coverage, but an AHL exhibition game doesn't? The coverage was supplied by the US National team's filming crew I believe. The National team usually garner's more attention and has more focused funding for such things I'd assume. DeNiro
Labate can skate. He`s got good speed for a big guy. He doesn`t shy away from battling along the boards either. One thing I noticed though is that he needs to bulk up some more. Quite a few times he was knocked down pretty easily. At 6`4`` and 200 pounds he's still pretty lanky. But he`s got at least another year, maybe two, in college to bulk upand become a dominant player. So I`m not worried. He looks good for a sophomore.
