The 17 year old has shown a big leap in his calibre of play this season, playing as one of the anchors on a defense that has encountered a lot of unforeseen troubles. Corrado has added a lot of much needed bulk and muscle to his frame this season and looks a lot more comfortable out on the ice. He’s a very good puck moving defenseman that skates well and is very agile on the ice as well as being elusive to fore-checkers. Corrado sees a lot of powerplay time in Sudbury this year, but his offensive game is still developing in that regard as you can see he isn’t a prototypical powerplay quarterback and hasn’t quite lived up to my point expectations for him thus far. He’ll need to continue to show that he can be a reliable defender and as his offensive game comes around, he should re-enforce his position as a draft prospect for next June.

--The Scouting Report

Seems like a great pick. Our D prospect pool is getting pretty damn solid.

3 hours ago he said "Well I can't say I'm too happy about the rain when I'm trying to play a round of golf" I'm guessing he wasn't in the building for the draft?

Lies. He's more of a Steve Bernier. Hopefully his talent level goes up so he can become like a Taylor Pyatt.

Seems like a pretty easy going kid. Hopefully he commits to getting better full time. I'd say he's still at least 4 years away though.

Posted Image What's up with these guys becoming beasts in NHL 11? Tommernes was also one too I believe.

Good to see MG keeping with the theme of puck-moving D-men who can skate. 'Tis the way to go. Also love that some of our young guns are on Twitter, like K-Conn and Archibald too.

God, maybe that's why Jason Botchford is suggesting Ron Delorme might be fired. Our head of scouting has gone from, "I get all I need to know about a player from how he practices alone & the entire draft isn't an exact science, it's more like a crapshoot" to, "I get all I need to know about a player from how he develops in my 'EA Sports NHL '11 Be A General Manager' mode & I can figure out which player projects and since I can just revert to a previous save it's no longer a crapshoot, no, instead it's much more of an exact science".

That would explain a lot things.

MG: So Nicklas Jensen, Ron?
RD: Dood, he like becomes 87 overall and A potential in chel 11, get yo game on. Ea sports says it's in the game for a reason.

The Frank Corrado fan blog already has pictures posted today from Summer Development Camp: http://frankiecorrad...er-canucks.html

Interesting to see a 5th round pick get this kind of a following on the web. There's also a second site dedicated to him: http://frankcorrado.weebly.com/

Just saw the Prospect Cam videos by Frank Corrado on http://video.canucks...om/videocenter/

I must say, he seems like a great character and a leader. Vocal, friendly, and engages everybody in his videos. He goes up to take a swing first and lets the boys have a laugh.

What impressed me the most was that Corrado was including the Europeans in some of his videos. Showed that he was willing to reach out to others and include them in the fun. Very contrasting to the Prospect Cam video I done by Kellan Tochkin where it was pretty obvious that he had his 'boys' and neglected the new guys as well as the Europeans.

Excited to see Corrado in his upcoming years. I believe he was compared to another Ontario-native defenseman on our team Kevin Bieksa. That's some high praise for the young man. Hope that this kid can make the Canucks some day.

Yeah, I loved his vid's too. good stuff, and an all-inclusive leader type, to be sure.

Related to the vids, but not directly Corrado talk:
I had to laugh when Archibald said he should have been wearing the Tiger hat :P

The more I look into this kid, the more I'm impressed with him.

He plays on a terrible team called the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL where their best player is Marcus Foligno. The team's top scorer is a '91-born undrafted defenseman that was -31 on the season.

Corrado apparently became their top-pairing defenseman and plays tons of minutes as well as 1st unit PP and presumably 1st unit PK (since he's their top defenseman). This kid is looking very good right now.

I compare him to Toronto's 1st rounder Stuart Percy.

Percy: 4G29A33P in 63GP 50PIM
Corrado: 4G26A30P 67GP 97PIM

You'll notice that Percy had 3 more points in 4 less games than Corrado. However, you need to realize that Percy plays for a very good team in the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors - the runner-up in this year's OHL Championship.

I think Corrado can be a decent NHLer if he puts in the work to follow the Canucks development program and trains hard to become a better player. He'll get tons of ice time this upcoming season and could impress.

I'm definitely keeping an eye on this guy's stats next season.

I don't think I've ever been this keen on a draft year. Looks like a very deep year compared to last year. Not knocking on the 2010 draftees, but I wasn't very excited about them - not even Patrick McNally. But this year, we got some gems late in the rounds as well.

Looking forward to these 4 in particular - Jensen, Honzik, Labate and Corrado. Kind of curious what Tommernes is capable of as well if he makes the jump this season. I really liked 2008 and 2011 overall. 2009 had Rodin and Schroeder, but the later rounders weren't as promising as the 2008 and 2011 draftees.
