Some meteors "skip" upon reentry. So they burn...then disappear for a 1/2 second then burn again. It's possible people misinterpreted this. Besides 100+ years ago we didn't have things like rockets. But the better term is skyrocket to fame and hopefully not blow up upon re-entry.

Back on topic ;)

Here's his goal from last night and a nice shootout goal he had. But you might say the puck jumps off his stick like a shooting star.

I could really see Corrado developing into a #3 Dman, he has the tools, he just has to put them together.

Well, they could just say 'meteoric' if it was about a fall (which way is up to the universe anyway?) so the qualifying descriptor of 'rise' makes it clear it was positive.
::D

hmm... MG likes character guys and most captains are pretty personable, but I sure hope Frankie, with his meteoric rise, continues to be upward trending in value and isn't so "down to earth" or that could be problematic

(sorry, couldn't help myself :bigblush:)

EDIT: on topic, hope he makes the team :)

Thanks for the upload. Seems he pulled quite the slick move in the shootout.

With all this talk of meteors out of the way, is there anybody that can chime in on how he's been playing aside from the goals? He's obviously been good since he did get that invite, but is there anything in particular you think he can work on? I haven't had a chance to watch him any.

That shootout goal was really nice for a D-man.

His shot is progressing nicely too, he has all the tools to be a very important top 4 d-man. Nice to see.

Personally, I see him becoming a bottom pairing D man in a year or two, becoming a top 4 guy after that. I personally have more confidence in him than Tanev, Connauton, or Sauve, atm. He is the only thing keeping the Wolves afloat.

Ooo right. Damn forgot he's on another Wolves team too. He threw me off with the comparison to Tanev, Connauton and Sauve. Thanks for the heads up.

I have more confidence in Tanev honestly. Corrado is kind of enjoying "shiny new toy" status. He is playing great but I think Tanev is farther along and has as much of a chance at being a top 4 dman as Corrado.

@TysonGiuriato: Corrado will be paired with Calgary Flames prospect and Portland Winterhawks defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon on the blue-line tonight.

Nice, looks like he will be given a true chance to make the team now that Ouellet's status is foggy.

Hopefully he can make it, I honestly think he could beat out someone like Rienhart or Pouliot if it comes down to them, they probably like he reliable two-way play along with that grit, & skating ability that he brings.

Corrado scores the first and only goal so far in the WJC intra-squad game. A nice, hard, accurate slap shot through traffic.

The overhyping train on HFboards has started! Canuck fans on there say Corrado will lock a spot in the WJC '13, Calder trophy, Canucks roster, Team Canada 2014, and HHOF!

Oh just caught the highlights on SC.

A nice seeing eye wrister post and in, nice for Corrado, should give the coaching staff something to think about.

And also that shot by Danault was really nice too.

Matt Dumba played really bad tonight, Ryan Murphy also didn't impress.

Corrado might have a chance...

Corrado was solid, confident, and fluid all night, and looked a lot better than the overrated Matt Dumba.

Reinhart was steady and will probably make the team, so his competition is Ryan Sproul who was also very solid.

Hopefully Corrado makes it, if Ouellet can't go maybe he will be able to land a spot. Or even if they still take Ouellet, maybe he could be a good 7th atleast incase there are concerns with Ouellet's health.

Rielly - Hamilton
Harrington - Murphy
Reinhart - Corrado

Then if Ouellet can go either Reinhart, Murphy or (And most likely) Corrado can slide out.

Went to this game tonight and Corrado definitely made a strong statement with his game tonight.

Assisted on the 1st goal making a solid play in his own zone getting the puck to the forwards and then scored the gwg for team red letting go a good quick released wrist shot from the point .

I watched Corrado closely and thought his speed, positioning, hockey sense and physical play were all strong. Another noticable thing to me is he was very vocal and seems to be a strong leader type.

From what i have seen even though there's already a few big name guys that will be assured a spot on defense but Corrado should still have a real good shot to make the squad.

This is just one game so hopefully he can put in a couple more solid efforts in the games against the Golden Bears. I may check out the game Thursday hopefully he is still on the team for that game.

FYI that's two GWG Corrado has scored with hockey Canada scouts looking on.

He sure knows how to step up when he needs to.

Way to go Frankie !

I don't know how much of a factor the larger European ice surface is going to affect Team Canada's decision on their squad, but I would imagine that Frankie's mobility and puck-moving ability certainly is suited for this tournament than others who may be bigger and more physical, but slower and therefore can be caught off position more (I don't know if there are any like that at the camp).

Also, it helps that Dumba and Murphy didn't impress while Corrado certainly did.
