FYI that's two GWG Corrado has scored with hockey Canada scouts looking on.

He sure knows how to step up when he needs to.

A Canucks D-man that thrives under pressure? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love how TSN harps on Corrado is probably on the outside looking in. Uhhh...you realise he's making a statement that he deserves to play?

You can watch the game for free at fasthockey.com, just need to register.

Pouliot-Corrado were the only calm and steady D Pair in that period. Corrado made some solid defensive plays and scored a goal off the rush, beat Brossoit with a hard wrister.

Murphy, Reinhart and Dumba especially have been horrid.

Dumba is looking truly awful, the other two are underwhelming but "horrid" might be a bit extreme. Only because they don't look as bad as Dumba though.

Nonetheless, the Pouliot-Corrado line is looking amazing.

I honestly don't know how you ignore anyone playing as solid a defensive game as he is while having 2G and 1A so far in this selection camp. Hockey Canada is quite political but Corrado would have to screw up pretty bad to not make it at this point.

wow if the selection comes down to whos playing the best then no question frankie should be on the team easily (and not just as the extra d-man). at this point if he doesnt make the team its because they wanted to go with a bigger name prospect. damn frankie, looks like the canucks stole a gem in the 5th round

Peter Loubardias on Corrado: scouts believe he is in the mix to grab one of the seven spots. Does it all, defensive, can skate, can move the puck well and shoot.

OMG we could've had McKeown!

I think Virtanen was a terrible pick given that he's out for 6 months which will hinder his development. You don't pick someone at #6 under that circumstance, along with the fact that he was given a 3/5 IQ (aka he's dumb).

God dammit Benning. WHY VIRTANEN? Terrible move.

Down by the River - Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

Ever since that pre-season game in Edmonton he's looked like a 1st/2nd rounder. You look at the leafs 25th overall pick 2011, Stuart Percy. I would take Corrado over Percy all day.
That's what the draft is all about though, there are first round talents who get picked late because they haven't developed as fast.

I hope he makes the team. He seems to be showing a lot of people what good work ethic and playing smart might beat hype and draft position. Good late round pickup by the Canucks. Looks a lot like Hamhuis..smooth operator.

From what I can tell (based on TSN highlights), none.

So he has 2 goals 1 assist and he's at least a +3 in 2 games against some of the best kids in Canada.
That's very impressive.
No wonder he was gillis' only junior call up.

Can't tell if serous, or sarcastic...

Anyway, a couple of updates:

@benkuzma: Canucks fifth-round pick Frank Corrado has opened more eyes with two goals in two WJC selection camp outings.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: U of Alberta wins 4-1 over Team CAN. First round of cuts tonight.

We'll have to wait and see if he gets past the first round of cuts but I don't see how he doesn't at least get past that considering his play of late.

I think at this point, Corrado has to play his way off his roster spot that he's earned.

The top 6 for me is Hamilton, Rielly, Harrington, Ouellet, Reinhart and Corrado. 7th man will likely be Murphy for offensive upside.

Before TruCanuck takes too many shots, he/she was referring to a post I had made in another thread, where I asked who was the last Vancouver prospect to play for Team Canada in the WJHC. I didn't count Kassian because he wasn't Canucks property at the time, but I felt pretty sheepish to forget about Hodgson.

Hamilton, Reilly, Harrington (though I don't like his style much), Reinhart, Pouliot, Corrado and Murphy should be the D. Our powerplay should be good at least.
