Crosby Lands in Florida!

sidney_crosby_pictures3.jpg

Without any doubt, today has to be the most exciting day for hockey in Florida, acquiring the best player the league has seen in 10 years. Even though there are injury concerns with Crosby at this point, he is making progress and both sides feel he is on the right track to return to hockey this coming season.

"We obviously inquired constantly for Sidney, working out the loose ends on the deal took a long period of time, but we are extremely excited to have Sid with us, we wish nothing but the best to John, Alex and Matt, we are sure they will be terrific in Vancouver"

Despite already having made a flurry of moves since taking over Florida, GM OTTS is still looking to put the last finishing touches on the Panthers roster. "We feel we are very close to now competing in the league, finishing in the bottom-3 last year, we think we can significantly improve on that with the moves we've made.

Penguins.gif?t=1311099060 PRESS RELEASE - TRADE

The Pittsburgh Penguins would like to welcome Defencive prospect and former first round draft pick, Bobby Sanguinetti to the organization. He is a young offencive defenceman who has the potential to become a top pairing defenceman for this team and will be groomed to become just that. Bobby was targeted for his offencive skill set and the Penguins organization are extremely happy to stock up on another up and coming defencive gem. Bobby will battle for a spot on the team's 3rd defencive pairing this year

The Pens are also extremely happy to re-acquire forward Nick Bjugstad. Losing Nick was a very difficult choice but re-acquiring him was something on the minds of management for some time. Nick is a big, offencive minded prospect that will make his mark in the NHL soon and the organization feels given Nick's combination of size, abilities, and awareness, Penguin fans and foes alike will not have to wait long before they see Bjugstad in the NHL.

He projects as a solid, two-way power forward who has high-end hockey sense that he displays at both ends of the ice. He has multiple tools for attacking the opposition, whether he is using his size to create traffic at the front of the net, controlling the powerplay from the halfboards, or pestering opposing players with his relentless forecheck.

The Penguins organization's future as well as present seem extremely bright, and with the addition of Bobby and Nick, the organization now has the pieces to feel even brighter about the future.

Finally, the Penguins organization wishes Zach, Aaron and Eric all the best as they move forward with their careers and respective teams. All three will be great role playing additions to the Blue Jackets and the Blues.

Mr. Sharpshooter would also like to extend his sincerest appreciation to the General Managers of the St. Louis Blues, Mr. TGC and the General Manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Mr. Pimpnovski, for both their professionalism and courteous business demeanour in making these deals relaxed, efficient, and genuinely pleasant negotiating experiences.

MONTREAL - It turns out that the rumors were true. The Montreal Canadiens were in fact involved in three separate deals last week, and GM _arby_18 has again changed the complexion of the Habs roster just prior to Training Camp.

"No more moves are planned before training camp begins," _arby_18 said via teleconference this afternoon. "And this time I'm serious," he said with a chuckle.

According to the Habs GM, all three of these moves originated from discussions involving Mike Komisarek and Montreal's 2011 1st Round Pick, as they were both being packaged together in an effort to move the big defender and his contract. The first deal involved sending Komisarek, goaltender Sami Aittokallio and the aforementioned 1st Round Pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for youngsters Ben Maxwell and Dylan McIlrath.

"I would like to thank Mike and Sami for their time here in the Canadiens organization," _arby_18 said. "Unfortunately it just never clicked for Mike here in Montreal and we believed that a change of scenery would be beneficial to both sides. Moving the 1st Round Pick as part of the deal was a difficult decision, but getting (Ben) Maxwell and (Dylan) McIlrath in return certainly helped, especially because young McIlrath was a top-10 draft pick just last season."

Now short an NHL-calibre defenseman, _arby_18 was able to make yet another deal with the New Jersey Devils to bring on board another young defenseman. Joining the Habs is Luca Sbisa, while heading to New Jersey are Eric Tangradi, Kevin Connauton and Montreal's 2011 3rd-Round Pick. Sbisa joins Jonathon Blum, Jakub Kindl and Keaton Ellerby as defenders under the age of 24 on the Habs blue-line.

"Luca Sbisa is a young, talented defender with an extremely cap-friendly contract," _arby_18 explained. "While moving Tangradi, Connauton and our 3rd-Round pick may be regarded as a lot to give up, I felt that it was a price worth paying to get a guy like Luca. At 21 years of old, he'll fit in very nicely with the other young guys on our blue-line."

Last but not least, _arby_18 appears to have found the left-winger for the 2nd line that he was coveting. The final deal had Montreal sending Martin Hanzal and Mike Santorelli to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Clarke MacArthur and Blake Geoffrion.

"Moving Martin Hanzal and Mike Santorelli was another tough decision, and I wish them well in Vancouver ," _arby_18 said. "However, having a guy like Clarke MacArthur join our top-6 is very exciting, as is adding another talented youngster like Blake Geoffrion. Chad Larose has played some center in the past, so we felt that we could move some talent down the middle to get the winger we needed."

"Some people will notice that I have now moved all of my draft picks for next year's Entry Draft," _arby_18 said. "However, if you look at the ages of our players, you'll see that Horton, MacArthur, Bickell, Omark, Geoffrion, Maxwell, Blum, Kindl, Sbisa, Ellerby and Montoya are all 26 years old or younger. With guys like Grachev, Cizikas, Staal, McIlrath, Gudas, Parent, Thiessen and our recent draft picks down on the farm, I think that we have enough youth and talent in our organization to go without the draft picks this season."

The initial reactions to these moves have been very positive here in Montreal, and with camp starting up next week the excitement has now hit a fever pitch. It's time to get ready and drop the puck on this season.
