After scoping out the market, Tampa has found that they aren't going to find the deal they've been looking for. Unless that deal comes along, Tampa will be going into camp with the roster it currently has. In the time I've been GM, I've signed a number of prospects and young players. Now will be the time for them to showcase their abilities, and for our club to exhibit our developmental program to future players.

Tampa's training camp will be an exciting one.

In the Forward positions,

Marleau, Fisher, Okposo, Cole, and Moulson will all be playing together at some point to work out suitable line combinations and potential powerplay lines. What is notable is that there is still a top-6 spot available, either at LW or C. This allows for players like Cal O'Reilly to have the opportunity to play top-6 minutes as well as young guys like Sexton and Clifford to have a breakout season.

In the bottom-6, it is looking like Sexton, Clifford, and O'Reilly will be the projected 3rd line, but again, with a good showing at camp, that means of these players (or possibly Avery) will be given a top-6 role. With Brown being our most experienced 4th liner, the other 2 4th line spots will be given to the best of Andrew Desjardins, Ryan Stoa, Anton Rodin, Brett Sonne, and Riley Nash.

There is still a possibility of another player being brought into the mix, but we want our young guys to have a shot.

On Defense,

Carle- Burns would likely be our go-to tandem. Murray, Stoner, and Peckham will slot in the 3-4-5 spots to begin the year, as they have demonstrated they can perform admirably in this role, and have the toughness we are looking for. That leaves the 6 and 7 positions open for a battle between experienced players like Hillen and Wishart with rookies Petrecki, Seabrook, and recently signed Acolatse. There is also a chance that top prospect Calvin de Haan will get a shot at a top-4 role.

Ferraro and Hamilton would likely get one more year of seasoning before competing for a spot, but will gain valuable training camp experience that will only help them later on.

Looking good man that first line looks dangerous if Crosby comes back early. You have come in and took over a team which was in for a longhaul rebuild and started making it your own straight away. Defense has a lot of good youth and Crawford in net is looking solid for next season. Think you are good for the playoffs? We both managed in the West last year should be interesting to see how it goes in the deep east.

{eot}story_left_arrow.gifstory_right_arrow.gifText SizeCOLUMBUS, Ohio -- Casino tax revenue would be used to help buy the Blue Jackets' home arena from Nationwide Realty Investors and Nationwide would become part-owner of the financially troubled team under a proposal announced Wednesday to help the city keep its NHL club and preserve economic activity in the area near the arena.

President Mike Priest says the team was encouraged by the plan and believes it "offers a solution that will provide a long-term sustainable business model for the organization."

Under the proposal, the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority would buy Nationwide Arena for US$42.5 million, or about a quarter of its construction cost, and receive part of the city and county tax revenues from the casino being built in the Columbus area. Nationwide would invest $52 million in the team and take a 30 per cent interest in the Blue Jackets, who would agree to make it their home until 2039, 13 years beyond the current agreement, and receive incentives to save them more than $9 million annually. Nationwide also would buy naming rights for the facility for 10 more years, providing the team with an additional $28.5 million.

The team has made the playoffs only once in its 11 years and had seen attendance decline, and a report commissioned two years ago by the Columbus Chamber warned that the city might have a hard time retaining the Blue Jackets because they were losing $12 million a year.

William Jennison, executive director of the Convention Facilities Authority, said the hope now is that the team will stick around forever.

The proposal would require approval from public officials at several levels. It was announced by a panel put together amid concerns about the future of the district around the arena, the jobs it provides and the economic benefit of having the team as a major tenant there.

"It would actually cost the community more not to do this because if you were to lose that economic activity, it would be much more costly than the amount of casino taxes that are being invested," Jennison said.

The facilities authority would borrow $53.3 million, including $10 million from the Ohio Department of Development, to fund the purchase of the arena and its initial expenses until the casino taxes start in 2013, Jennison said. The city and surrounding Franklin County would agree to pay the facilities authority one-fourth to one-third of their annual casino tax revenues -- a chunk that amounts to a projected $7.7 million in 2014 -- until an estimated end date of 2039, depending on the total tax revenues contributed.

The major entities involved in the deal would form a new non-profit group, Community Arena Management, that would manage the arena and likely would choose Ohio State University to handle the sales and marketing, as it does now, Jennison said. The non-profit group also would manage Ohio State's Value City Arena.

Jennison said officials hope to have the deal approved by all relevant parties by the end of the year.

:P

i was bored and did a little bit math...

i added my starting line up last years points (goals, assists and pim) with this years scoring structure...ppg, shg , +/- , etc not included

if my team keeps scoring in G,A and PIM from last year and thomas plays like last season...

my team will collect around 3500 points.. special teams not included

further some of my players was injured...goc,sturm,poti..or got just a few shots ...bowman,repik,butler...

i hope those guys staying healthy or will get more shots on their teams this season

+ i have some guys in the minors they could make the nhl this season..so they could replace

injured players if necessary

so the 4000 points mark will be cracked easily i guess :)
