If i look at your team i see 99% Players they will make the Playoffs in real for sure excepted they get injured or their Teams sucks unexpected.

I have a bunch of 40-50 Points or more Players they could bring me to the Playoffsin the Game but just a few of them will make the Playoffs in real...my hopes going to Ottawa,Florida and lol...Calgary..specially cuz of Iggy.i hope they will surprise. :D

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens have made another splash in the Free Agent market, inking young defender Jonathon Blum to a 4-year deal worth $10 million. This comes on the heels of a trade that was completed one day earlier where the Habs picked up veteran defensemen Matt Greene and Derek Meech from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Mike Weaver, Justin Falk and a 2012 2nd Round draft pick (New Jersey). It's almost as if GM _arby_18 was trying to bolster his blueline or something.

"I am very happy to stand here today and confirm the additions of Jonathon, Matt and Derek to our organization," _arby_18 said during a small press conference at the Bell Centre this morning. "I feel that today we have improved our team tremendously and I cannot wait to get this season started."

"Jonathon Blum is a young man that we focused our attention on because we believe he fits in perfectly with what we have going on here," _arby_18 explained. "We made a conscious effort at the trade deadline last year to get younger and have acquired a number of quality young players recently, and at 22 years of age Jonathon is another player that fulfills that goal."

"He has experienced winning a Memorial Cup and was also named the CHL Defenseman of the Year only two seasons ago, so we know that he is a winner. He is also a right-handed shot that we needed, and we envision him playing major minutes in our top-4 right away and think that he could even potentially play alongside Zdeno on the top unit."

"People can say what they want about him playing only 23 games in this league, or that we overpaid for him or whatever, but we saw an opportunity here to acquire a young guy that we are very high on without giving up any assets," _arby_18 said. "We have filled a need with a young defender that we feel has a ton of upside, and our present and future just got a whole lot brighter. With Blum, (Jakub) Kindl and (Keaton) Ellerby we now have three solid young players on the back-end that we plan on building around for many years to come."

Before adding Blum via free agency, the trade to bring in Matt Greene and Derek Meech was completed. It should be noted that Greene is 28 years old and Meech is 27, so these moves further decrease the average age of the team.

"I would like to thank Mike Weaver and Justin Falk for their time here and wish them luck in Columbus," _arby_18 said. "Having said that, we are very pleased to add two guys like Matt and Derek to the organization. You need guys like them to win in this league, guys who may not show up on the scoresheet every night or play a flashy brand of hockey but will give everything they've got for their team."

"Matt is a fierce competitor that brings an unmatched compete level to the blueline who will block shots, kill penalties and let the other team know when he is on the ice. Some people may question bringing on his salary, but nobody can question his heart and we are extremely pleased to get him here and have him join our leadership group."

"As for Derek, we believe that he can fill a role for us either as a depth player up with the main squad or in a mentorship role on the farm. We know he can play in this league in all sorts of situations and really like the flexibility he can offer us."

Other then searching for another goaltender for the farm team in North Dakota, it is believed that the Habs are done making moves and will go into training camp with the current roster. The additions of Alex Tanguay and Jonathon Blum via free agency, as well as the acquisitions of Bryan Bickell, Keaton Ellerby and Matt Greene via trade, complete what was a busy summer for _arby_18 and have Habs fans very excited for the coming season.

What was your thought process when deciding not to re-sign Jimmy Howard to a long term contract extension worth top dollar? What makes you think that your team can win the Cup this season without a true starting goalie? You have the cap space and it is a matter of time before Lidstrom retires so I just don't get why you gave up on Howard.

However that is one solid team. Couture and Staal are the X-factors in my opinion.

Quick question for the more knowledgeable GM's.....if you trade for a player and then want to extend their contract in the offseason...can you do that right away, as in right now, or does one have to wait till Jan 1 ?

Appreciate any feedback.
