Pretty stoked to see "Stone-Hands-en" at work on the 2nd line... See if he and Kes can work a little magic!

Way to keep it exciting AV :towel:

Foligno drills Hodgson with a shoulder to the head with Hodgson in a prone position.... but apparently that's somehow Hodgson's fault, and just a good clean hit from Foligno?

Please....

Had that been Burrows or Hansen running over Michalek or Foligno....

.... managed to acquire a solid top-6 winger in Cole, a young kid with a bright future in Matthias, a veteran bottom-6 winger in Smithson and a young prospect in Hartikainen. The depth on this squad just got even deeper.

Nuoret Jouni Hartikainen suuri arvo sinulle tulevaisuudessa, jos olkapää on kiinteä.

You gotta love when Boston and Columbus collide, I know I am in for 10 points, maybe more!

Also, welcome back Peter Regin, 2 points is a nice way to ease into the lineup.

52 points, 3 players still on the ice in late games and One Question: this would be 62 points IF bobrovsky is awarded a win for finishing a game started by Bryzgalov, the reason I don't know the answer is that bryz was winning it when he was relieved in the 3rd period...bob went on to stop all shots. Do both get the win? does the reliever get the win or the starter?

The person who was on the ice when the GWG was scored gets the win. I.e. the Colorado 6-0 win went to Luongo because he was on the ice when the first goal was scored. If it was 6-1, then Schneider would've gotten the win.

News From the Shark Tank

San Jose Sharks General Manager would like to announce that Cody Bass has been sent to the minor league Saskatoon Tigers HCL in order to play some real game time minutes and keep his edge. Cody will see the big team again this year, as there will certainly be room for him over the course of the long season. Cody Bass is NOT waiver eligible.

At the same time, San Jose would like to activate Adam Burish from LTIR. On paper, this team is finally healthy and all on the same page. In reality, we have more than one walking wounded, indicated below as day to day by the + sign after the name.

San Jose Sharks Current Full Roster:

Steve Sullivan - Jason Spezza - Daniel Briere
Andrei Kostitsyn - Kyle Brodziak - Brendan Morrison
Travis Moen - Peter Regin - Niklas Hagman
Marco Sturm - Adam Burish+ - Shawn Thornton
Jared Boll

Sami Salo - Mike Green+
Zbynek Michalek+ - T.J. Brodie
Derek Morris - Henrik Tallinder
Mike Lundin - Colton Teubert

James Reimer
Sergei Bobrovsky

*Saskatoon Tigers HCL*
F: Mike Duco - Kirill Kabanov - Patrick O'Sullivan - Cody Bass
D: Justin Falk
G: Ben Bishop, Jeff Frazee

I see, yes, that makes sense. This happened before with Bryz and Bob....I am comfortable with it. The thing that intrigues me is that the 5million dollar Bryzgalov is not the goalie he was brought in to be. This is the second time already he has been relieved in a game that he was winning when he was pulled. To top it off, Big Bob has better looking stats in GAA and S%

Something could twist in the wind over the coming months and Bobrovsky could find himself in a starter position with a 5million dollar back up ....wow. Who would have thought?

Bryzgalov wasn't 'pulled'. Had to leave the game due to a lower body injury.

potatoe pa ta to.

:P

I am all for Bob getting more ice time in Philly. He is slowly but surely proving he was not a one hit wonder last year.

I guess I am just saying its really up to Bryz to stay healthy, and stay sharp, and try to keep his numbers in line. There is no such thing as a 'safe' starters job, as we saw in Vancouver with Cory getting several starts in a row at Lu's expense.

I guess outside this game, I am somewhat inclined to start the blue chip goalie, ie the expensive one. But this year here in this game has shown me that yes, maybe there is merrit to giving the back up some earned starts.

I am a heavy Lu fan...honestly...I am. He has a gold medal, and he went to game seven of the SCF...that is some heavy credentials in my book. But this Bobrovsky/Bryzgalov situation has me looking and thinking a bit.

edit: and the natural worry followup: if I end up with two starters what will they force me to do? I guess shop one around and improve my D/top six? Or would I have a half a years grace to see what the long term developments are In Real Life? hrm..so much to think about...Bobrovsky anyone? lol

[Assign] The Ottawa Senators would like to assign Brett Connolly to the Windsor Warriors. Then we would like to loan him to the Canadian National Junior team. This was a mutual decision. Brett and the organisation are honored to see Brett put on the red and white to represent his country.

[Activation] The Ottawa Senators would like to activate Frazer Mclaren of the LTIR and assign him to the active roster.

awww man, this is gonna sound all contrived..but i hope Dallas wins..they are no where near my favorite team...but of the two evils...Dallas is the lesser. I Just never got on board the NFC East. I like the NFC North, the Falcons and Buccs in the south and the Cards in the west...but all in all not enough. Haha, i am not an NFC Fan at all really.

Now you give me some Chargers, Raiders, Bengals, Patriots, Steelers...then we talkin.

All IN all, JUST WIN BABY: Real Men Wear Black. Go Raiders Go!

I think you are putting the cart before the horse saying that Bobrovsky has taken the number one job from Bryzgalov. They trusted Bobrovsky enough after last season that they changed their entire team to bring in Bryzgalov. I think it is safe to say that come crunch time, Bryzgalov will be the go to guy. Or, at the very least, a 3rd of the season would not be soon enough to give up on him as their starter.

A bit of wishful thinking in San Jose there partner.

And leaving a game with an injury is not even remotely close to the same thing as being pulled because the other guy is better or because you suck......just saying. So your potato comment just comes across as ill informed.

We are NOT happy with the play of our team this last week. Sources say that Tuomu Ruutu, Ian Cole, and others could be available for a legitimite top flight LW.

The Montreal Canadiens have placed F Jeff Taffe on waivers, with the intention to assign him to North Dakota once he clears.

In his place, the Habs have recalled D Keaton Ellerby from the Fighting Sioux.

It came across that way because I wasn't talking about nor did i have any awareness of last nights situation. I was talking Macro, not Micro...I never said Bob has taken his job, I am saying the job is Bryzgalov's to lose, and so far this year, other than being the higher paid guy, there is nothing else in Bryz's favor as to why he is the starter. Bobrovsky is making a huge case for himself to be the starter, so therefore it really is up to Bryz to fight for his role, isn't it?

I guess i used the wrong language, since he was injured...but in a macro sense, it really adds into the equation...twice injured in 20ish ish games..'fragile' tag is not far off. The trick is to think broad general strokes...not spur of the moment real time reactionary ones. I think then, my comments make sense. Or maybe not...i was drinking wine. :P

This is what hockey should be. A lot of chances, a lot of hitting, no cheap shots, no chirping after whistles."

Or Philly could be taking the approach that they have two really good goalies so why not use both. You may be reading too much into a win your job/lose your job situation there is all I'm saying.

The trend among elite teams seems to be to have great backups and to use them a lot rather than put their starter out there for 70+ games. The last few seasons more teams have done it. But the Flyers were one of the first and have consistently handled their goalies that way for the past few years.

Maybe Philly will do the same thing in the playoffs, who knows. Somehow I think unless Bryzgalov is injured, he will be the guy though.

Any goalie can lose their job or win their job for short stints. After breaking the bank to sign a guy though, 1/3 of his first season isnt likely (in a macro sense) to be when a final decision will be made on his starter status unless he is really stinking it up (which Bryzgalov is not) or really playing significantly better (again, Bobrovsky is not).

As to your fragile tag on Bryzgalov, come on man. ALL goalies suffer injuries sooner or later.
