Primal Optimist
Sharks IceBreakers Tonight we ice a team as talented as it is tiny, lets hope for big numbers from one or two guys stepping up! Daniel Briere Jason Spezza Colton Teubert Sergei Bobrovsky Mike Green Admittedly it may very well be our number one and number two guys on the ice tonight alone: Briere and Spezza. Teubert is a 7th option on D for the Oilers, while Big Bob is the backup in Philly, and will see time either tonight or tomorrow, or neither as Bryzgalov the starter has regained his form. Mike Green is day to day with a groin injury, and may skate tonight, but most likely next weekend in a game environment.

Primal Optimist
how would our seeding look in the NHL if the new conferences were in place now? Phoenix Vancouver LA San Jose ---- Edmonton COlorado Calgary Anaheim Does this actually Favor vancouver for the forseeable future?

Primal Optimist
Decreases the chance of facing the Blackhawks in the playoffs.

Champions of Nothing
that is true, but in general, I don't see the canucks being in the bottom half of this group for a long time yet..many years to come, so it seems like an advantage to start in the top couple spots, rankings wise. Squeak
The Canucks/Sharks/Kings will be the top 3 for the forseeable future. That pretty much leaves 1 spot for 5 (4 minus the Flames) to fight for. Hard to see the Oilers or Avs in the playoffs in the next couple years if the Ducks figure it out of the Coyotes keep playing solid hockey. Primal Optimist
THe Kings don't seem to be growing anymore to me..they seem to have plateaued for a year or two now...if this was their Apex..then they are going to go downhill from here. But what do i know.
Champions of Nothing
I disagree with you there. I won't be surprised if the Oilers make the playoffs next season... IF... they can add 1 Top 4 D and a more consistent goalie.

Squeak
Phoenix has been a solid and consistent team for the last few years and I don't see why they don't continue it. It's also a BIG "if" in adding to their D core and more consistent goaltending.
Champions of Nothing
Besides the fact that Phoenix has a 50/50 shot of not being Phoenix next year. Also pending UFA'S: Shane Doan Ray Whitney Daymond Langkow Taylor Pyatt Michael Rosival Adrian Aucoin Kurt Sauer They are starting to lack top prospects as well, with only Gormley being the only sure NHL'er out of their prospect who is NOT currently with the team. They are currently a fringe playoff team as it is, and that huge turnover will only hurt them, as they are a budget team. While Daryl Katz would LOVE to spend the money on improving his team. Squeak
Thet've been saying that for what, 5 years now? I'm not holding my breath. Doan isn't going anyway. Pretty obvious he is a franchise-loyal guy. The rest are replaceable in Dave Tippet's system, which can never be counted out.

arby18_
The Habs have been incredibly happy with the play of Erik Condra, a guy who signed a free-agent contract just weeks before training camp. He has fit seamlessly into our young lineup, is producing at a very high level, and has solidified our bottom-6 with his stellar play. Condra has worked his way up to the 3rd line, where he currently lines up on the rightwing alongside David Jones and Pat Dwyer. And he scored again tonight!
