I'm assuming Gillis and Gilman wouldn't have offered a 3-year deal unless the salary worked with their cap strategy going forward. Therefore, I'm thinking the final salary (and cap hit) will be higher than some people expected but will still be well within acceptable market value (something under $2 million). Otherwise, you'd think they'd just take it to arbitration (even given the one year deal that would've resulted). I'm still hoping for $4.5 million over 3 years and I'll consider anything up to $1.75 million/season pretty good value. Above that is acceptable but he'll need to "earn it" in some people's eyes (kind of like when Kesler first signed his $5 million/season extension). Anything under $1.5 million would be an absolute steal for the Canucks and would suggest a team discount and gift from Hansen. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
