A lot of dog treats that have a short shelf life are treated with irradiation to last longer, they say it's perfectly safe for consumption but I'm not sold on that just yet.

Also those chicken treats from China are supposedly bad, I read a bit about it and it didn't sound good.

yeah that's why we went with a local farmer, once we found out our old ones were made in china, even though that brand has never had anything bad reported on it. it's better to be safe than sorry.

yes, but not because i want to/will be smoking weed, but because I feel that the money currently spent on enforcing/prosecuting it and the increased tax revenue from legal sales of it is MUCH better spent on other things, like public charter schools (i-1240, which I also voted for). Also, less money in criminal organizations hands is always a good thing.

also, i have an open offer to Alton Brown to partner up in a snack shop franchise in seattle, selling a plethora of munchies to anyone who wants them... i'm just waiting to hear back from him on the endeavour.

They have a grain free as well... but I figure as we're feeding him raw meat too..

Interesting on the salt comments... I wonder if there's any way to find out what the actual amount is and compared to other brands? I presume it's there for largely preservative purposes.

Never mix raw and kibble. They digest at different rates (since kibble takes hours to digest whereas they digest the raw almost right away) so it'll upset their stomach. If you're having trouble getting your dog to eat straight raw, you can mix some canned.

There are two main factors

One factor that may contribute to the additional discomfort of cold symptoms in the evening hours is the fact that the body is now horizontal rather than vertical. Standing or even sitting in an upright position during the daytime distributes the usual amount of pressure or gravity that is constantly applied to the body. When people are lying down in a prone position, that pressure is distributed differently, and may result in additional pressure on the sinus cavities. This phenomenon will certainly increase the level of discomfort experienced by the cold sufferer.

Another aspect of our body function that may play a role in the severity of common cold and flu symptoms is our natural body rhythm or cycle. Sometimes referred to as the circadian cycle, this process adjusts the production of hormones based on the time of day. Hormones that are producing antibodies that fight infection are more active during daylight hours, and slow down production at night. This means that our natural defenses are somewhat weaker at night, and may result in an upswing in the severity of the symptoms of colds.
