Aren't Australia going after their playoff victory? So Oceania should have one representative

Yes and no. Australia moved to the Asian football confederation a couple of years ago so it is technically seen as a part of Asia.

Don't know if there's an audience for this here, but as a part time football coach and tactic nerd, I thought this was worth sharing.

For the first time, Spielverlagerung had the opportunity to interview a current Bundesliga head coach. Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco talks about the tactical evolvement of his players and how he involves them in his tactical planning.

Surprised that there isn't any talk of the World Cup draw.

No real "group of death" this time around, although group D looks like the toughest. (Argentina, Croatia, Iceland, Nigeria) Bad news for fans of underdog Iceland. OTOH, a lousy Russian team actually has a chance to advance after drawing into the easiest group, with Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

France and England with pretty favorable draws, while Spain, Portugal and Germany should have no trouble advancing. Brazil should also have no trouble in group E, but the battle for second should be entertaining. Serbia, Switzerland and Costa Rica all have a chance to claim that second spot.

Arsenal: 75% possession.

Arsenal: 15 shots on goal.

Arsenal: 1 goal

United: 3 goals.

Remarkable.

To take that even further: this is a statistic which illustrates the quality of shots in a game:

Means that all the shots Arsenal fired would usually equate to about 4.6 goals with so to say average finishing. While Man Utds shots would yield only about 1.9 goals.

Football is weird sometimes.

Wonderfully remarkable...

De Gea was almost unbeatable... Unbelieveable saves.

Fantastic.

Bosz sacked. Official announcement tomorrow.

No idea who might be his successor. They might opt for a Bayern-like replacement until the end of the season and then go after Nagelsmann, Hannes Wolf or someone like that.

Still, don't see much changing with a new coach except the usual couple of games lasting effect when a new coach comes in. Problem is in the team and the hierarchy within it. Sahin and Schmelzer have the say and are still Klopp players through and through. As long as they are there or have the say in the team, it will be very hard for a new coach to come in and be successful. I want them gone along with Subotic and Schürrle. They don't help us and will continue to hold us back, especially when they want to decide about the team's style of play. Rumours are those two are one of the main reasons that got Tuchel fired. They wanted to play the Klopp way. Tuchel wanted possession football. Big egos clash, idiocy ensues. They've done a lot for us but they are past their primes and they will ruin the club. Watzke unfortunately still seems to hold them in high regards.

Round of 16 for Champions League:

Juve vs. Tottenham

Chelsea vs. Barcelona  :o

Sevilla vs. ManU

FC Basel vs. ManCity

FC Porto vs. Liverpool

Real Madrid vs. PSG  :o

Bayern Munich vs. Besiktas

Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Roma

Two massive ties, can Chelsea and Antonio Conte knock off Barcelona?  Can PSG knock off the defending Champions?

My picks to advance to the round of 8:

Juve

Chelsea

ManU

ManCity

Liverpool

PSG

Bayern Munich

Roma

Next Peter up. Peter Stöger until the summer. Just got fired from Cologne after one of the most disastrous runs in Bundesliga history. Good coach nonetheless.

Rumours have it that Nagelsmann will come next summer.

Hannes Wolf would make a lot of sense too, given his connections with the club.

You don't reckon Bayern will go in for Nagelsmann?

Yeah, Wolf (former U17s and U19s coach), David Wagner (former second team coach) and Daniel Farke (former second team coach and from my hometown of Lippstadt) are all good coaches with connection to our club. But Nagelsmann is the hottest sh*t right now sooo...

I initially thought as well they would go for him. But it seems their focus has shifted to Tuchel. Curious to see how Tuchel's ego will be a fit to the egos of Hoeneß, Rummenigge etc. That could be a lot of fun in the future.
