You can't really compare CS to BF/COD since there completely different games even though they're both first person shooters. CS is famous for its simplicity and BF is famous for its complexity. I'm not even gonna both with COD.

But with that being said, hopefully the console version is dumbed down from the PC version. The game is meant for PC and nothing should be made worse on PC just to have the game "work" on consoles.

CS is famous for being the most popular shooter of all time, and having a huge professional gaming following.
The competition made it far more complex than any FPS could ever dream of. The content in the game is less detailed, however, simple? C-8!

You can customize the # of players Mega (on PC only apparently?)

I remember playing in 64 player servers - the round would take forever and it was laggy as heck

It won't be. Valve has already come out and said that they're serious about releasing this on consoles and they plan to be the first to have cross platform games, so the game will be identical.

The only difference will be that PCs will still be able to create dedicated servers and have 16vs16 etc. While consoles will be restricted to the 5v5 format.

Also I should note, that the console versions will support keyboard and mouse controls and will be required for any serious console gamers to be able to compete vs PC users

I'd probably get it for PS3. my problem with the small groups is that you'd almost have to join some type of Clan if you wanted to get a game in rather than queuing up.

And I dont have many friends :(

but I'm definately interested in buying this game.

The fan service probably won't get better than this. A pure reboot of the game with an extra secondary weapon. A CS fan's dream.

But I see some problems here, first being that it''s too late. It's been seven years since Source and they'll have to do some wicked marketing to get interest back into this game. Problem is, they're marketing the exact same game. Perfect for CS fans, terrible for casual gamers and those who were never fans in the first place. And when you look at CS fans, they're probably in their mid-20s. I'm not sure if the teenage market will be so quick to pick it up.

Truly fan service at its best, but I think it's gonna backfire on them. Or maybe I'm underestimating the video game culture. What do you folks think?

There is enough cs hardcores out there they will make their money off them. I am one of them. I own original and source cs and still mostly play original version, which is still crazy populated.

Played COD4 on PC with 40 vs 40 about a billion times. That was fun. 100 kills a game was commonplace.

If the PC version and the Console version are the same then the PC version is dumbed down. Its a fact.

OF course the PC doesnt matter much as 95% of sales will be on console anyways. Only WoW and SC keep the PC market going anymore lol.

I am loving this for nostalgia purposes. Its nothing revolutionary but I went back to an old server where I played countless hours on in high school and a lot of the same people are there.

Already a thread on this game (started by yours truly), but this game is DOA.

If you look at Steam's game stats, TF2 peaked today with 90,000 players. A remarkable feat, considering how old the game is.

CSGO peaked at 40k, which is pathetic, considering beta DOTA2 peaks at 70k and MW2 peaked at 33k.

CSGO, a brand new game, released in the middle of summer, and only costs $15, peaks at 40,000 players. Keep in mind that's PEAKING. Only 25k people are actually playing it.

Now if you factor in all the Source and 1.6 players, then you've got a lot of people playing cs. But since the community is so divided and full of snobs who don't leave their comfort zone, you're kind of in a bad spot, and CS doesn't stand a chance

I play with some dudes who are like 35-45, former pro CS/Quake gamer types. What do you mean "too old for games"!

Come on.

Check the date on this thread.

Yeah, some of the guys on my server absolutely refuse to leave the 1.6 server.

CS will at least survive as a small niche.

For $15 dollars, yes.

For the nostalgia, I would pay $50.
