Even some people here found it ridiculous what Ehrhoff said about this Team and his Future with the Sabres we should watch out fo them. There are some high talented young Players (Myers,Stafford,Gragnani,Enroth..) and guys like Leino,Boyes,Roy,Pomminville,Vanek,Hecht,Ehrhoff,Leopold,Miller...etc. who could make this Team a Cup contending Team ....sooner or later. We´ll see... Jeanneret, the longest-tenured play-by-play announcer in NHL history, and Hawerchuk, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, were selected based on their outstanding contributions to the sport of hockey and the Buffalo Sabres organization. The pair will officially be inducted as the 36th and 37th members of the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame during a ceremony before the team’s game against the Winnipeg Jets on November 8. With his vast knowledge of the game and his unwavering enthusiasm for hockey, Jeanneret’s distinct voice has been synonymous with the Buffalo Sabres for four decades. He began his prolific career with the Sabres in the 1971-72 season as the club’s radio play-by-play announcer and served primarily in that role until 1995, when he would also begin calling the action for the team’s televised games. His memorable calls and player nicknames have become forever linked with Sabres history for generations of fans. Jeanneret’s career officially began in 1963, when the St. Catharines, Ont. native filled in for the regular announcer at a Niagara Falls Flyers (Junior A) game. He went on to become the color analyst for one season before moving to the play-by-play position in 1965. Jeanneret joins his longtime friend and colleague, Ted Darling, and his broadcast partner of over 10 years, Jim Lorentz, in the Sabres Hall of Fame. Darling, the original “Voice of the Sabres” was inducted in 1996 and Lorentz was a member of the 2010 class. Hawerchuk, who was traded to the Sabres during the 1990 NHL Entry Draft, was a consistent force for the team for five seasons, averaging more than a point per game during his tenure with the club. He led the Sabres in scoring for three seasons (1990-91, 1991-92 and 1993-94). Hawerchuk led the team in assists in 1990-91 (58) and 1991-92 (75), and was the team’s overall leader in goals (35), assists (51) and points (86) in the 1993-94 season. His assists totals for the 1992-93 and 1991-92 seasons rank second and third, respectively, for most assists in a single season in team history. Prior to his time with the Sabres, Hawerchuk played nine seasons with the Winnipeg Jets and won the 1982 Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year. After the Sabres, he played for the St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers and eventually retired after 16 seasons in the NHL. Hawerchuk became the 23rd player to reach the 500-goal plateau in 1995-96 and the 31st player to record 1,000 points in 1990-91. During his career, the Toronto native amassed 518 goals, 891 assists and 1,409 points, placing him 10th on the career NHL points list at the time of his retirement. Their jerseys throughout the 70s, 80s and early 90s were terrific. If they can modify the current uniforms slightly, they would be one of the best in the league. Vanek-Roy-Stafford Ennis-Leino-Pominville Hecht-Gerbe-Boyes Kaleta-Gaustad-McCormick Regehr-Ehrhoff Myers-Leopold Sekera-Morrissonn Gragnani/Weber Miller Enroth They are over the cap and even with Kotalik being dumped in the minors, they need to get some more cap space. Hecht or Morrissonn will likely be traded and the Sabres have the depth to replace them. The Sabres have the best one-two punch in net in the NHL, one of the deepest defensive cores and 3 solid scoring lines. IMO, Derek Roy is the most underrated center in the league. He can easily put up 80+ points this year if he stays healthy. The powerplay will be excellent with Ehrhoff and Myers on the first unit. They are up there with Pittsburgh, Washington, Boston and Tampa. The only issue with the team is the lack of grit which can be compensated via trade. The Sabres are the darkhorse team in the playoffs and if all goes well, they have the potential to make it to the cup final. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I´m not sure about the Caps...they were pretty disapointing last Season..and well the other Season too if its about the Playoffs+ Semin,Backstrom and Ovie had a really bad Season. Pittsburgh..is it all about Sid or not?! we´ll see Tampa is allways a Dark Horse. Whats about the Flyers? Vanek - Roy - Pominville Ennis - Leino - Stafford Gerbe - Hecht - Boyes McCormick - Gaustad - Kaleta Ellis Regehr - Ehrhoff Leopold - Myers Sekera - Gragnani Weber Miller Enroth The team is pretty deep up front. The defense is also solid, if a little offense-heavy (Ehrhoff, Sekera and Gragnani as "offensive defensemen"). There's also a true all-star goaltender in Ryan Miller who could carry the team by himself. And they still have strong prospects waiting in the wings. Adam, Kassian, Foligno, Pysk and McNabb are all great prospects. I think the Sabres could surprise. But they don't have the elite talent needed to be a true contender. Yet. The former Vancouver defenceman scored in the third period after assisting on Jason Pominville's goal in the first to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens in pre-season action on Wednesday night. Ehrhoff, who signed a US$40 million, 10-year deal with Buffalo after being traded to the Sabres prior to the free-agent period, snapped a shot past Robert Mayer 6:07 into the third to restore the Sabres' one-goal lead. "He's got a really good shot," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "I thought probably again tonight there were some opportunities we passed up, we passed some plays around, but you don't usually have to tell him to shoot. He's a shooter and he can sling it with a wrist shot and he can hit it pretty hard with a slap shot." Pominville opened the scoring 15:31 in when he steered Ehrhoff's centring pass beyond Montreal starter Peter Budaj. Tyler Ennis scored into an empty net with 2.2 seconds remaining. P.K. Subban scored a power-play goal late in the second for the Canadiens, who lost for a second night in a row. Nathan Beaulieu, Montreal's first-round pick in the June draft, drew an assist on the goal with a cross-ice pass to Subban. "He's smart with the puck," Subban said. Ryan Miller has gotten better since 2005-2006 and I also think their defense is better. Ehrhoff - Myers could be a pretty deadly combination, especially if Christian wants to prove that the Canucks letting him go was a poor decision and that the bad finals was just a fluke. Ehrhoff - Myers Regehr - Leopold Gragnani - Sekera And look for them to move Morrisonn for a decent depth guy. Or to waive him and pick one up. People say Leo will put up fewer point this season, but in Calgary he put up 33 points once playing with Regehr then they made the finals and on the way Leopold put up 10 assists in 26 games. I'd say his point totals will improve again this year in the playoff playing next to Regehr. Thomas Vanek is gonna break out with 82-86 points having the Ehrhoff on his PP.
