Jannik Hansen

Whoever failed a few pages back about not seeing similarities between Hansen and Burr, wow.

Same career trajectory for sure.

Except Hansen was a much stronger skater when he first stuck with the team. It took Burr awhile to get stronger on his skates in his first few seasons here.

I remember a guy a while back had a hate-on for Hansen. CANUCKLELLION I think his name was. Haven't seen him around for a while. Maybe he choked on black feathers.

Hansen is essentially the perfect utility player. Hits, fast, scores (pretty or not, he scores), checks like a demon, plays solid d. Oh, and he doesn't ask for a mountain of money. He can play on any line and make it better. He even fights from time to time.

But, yeah. Let's just repeat the mantra "hands of stone" because that's what someone else said two years ago. I remember another player not having a great scoring touch several years back . . .

Pretty sure canucklelion is king of the es.....

Side note:

If Hansen was a profile player like burr thus thread would be at Clutch level.

Hansen is my favorite Canuck; he's gritty, hard working, tough but clean and he doesn't dive or whine much. If he had slightly softer hands he would be a star and that may well still come. I have this terrible fear that MG will package him in a trade for some overpriced bum. I will cry real tears if that happens.

Hansen brings the kind of toughness that other teams hate; never gives up on the puck, plays hard along the boards, hits, will not backdown in a scrum, will fight for position infront of the opposition's net and will fight if he has to. Plus Hansen has skill to beat players one on one, make a tape to tape pass(every once in a while) or pick a corner of the net and score.

Hansen can play on any line and be good; enough skill for the first line and enough size and toughess for the forth, altough I believe all lines should be built with skill and be able to score. This is why Van has troulbe in the playoffs they can not role 4 scoring lines. This is why I believe when fully healthy Van this year has enough skill to have a 4th line that can be mean and score.

I don't respect Jannik Hansen in that he's not a very hard working player. His passion isn't usually pretty evident, and he is slow.

But I get so excited seeing his offensive abilities... those hands of magic, which electrify an otherwise potentially dull third line with Cody Hodgson and Manny Malhotra.

I know Hansen will always have his haters because he has a low cap hit and low work ethic, but I'd argue that if the Canucks want to continue to be considered an elite team, they need to re-evaluate his worth. He's a first liner, and on most mediocre teams you wouldn't find him, but upon Raymond's return, Hansen is one of those guys who I'd keep on the firt line before the Sedins or anyone else.

LOL at the 2011 assessment on Hansen

Babych! Your love for Hansen has no ends. This is a HUGE opportunity to trade Hansen - his value has probably never been higher. By the way, you know who else had 3 points tonight? Andrew Ebbett. Let's move them both up to the first line?

A player with a small cap hit that hits, plays with emotion, and is putting up decent numbers... what's not to love?

I will say that I'm probably not going to love the next contract, though.
