PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE - Today the Pittsburgh Penguins GM Zach Parise has announced that some of the Penguin players have been demoted and will find themselves on new lines. " I just think this team needs a big wake up call during this time", said GM Parise. " We are not being consistent enough and we are finding ourselves fighting for a playoff spot, even though we are considered contenders for the cup this season." Pittsburgh Penguins are currently 15-13-3 with 33 points find themselves 8th in the east. Recently acquired forward Sergei Kostitsyn will be demoted to the 3rd line next game, he has yet to record a point as a Penguin in 5 games and he needs a spark. " We still believe in Sergei , we think he has a bright future in Pittsburgh and right now he needs a spark in his game, and right now he needs to find chemistry with some of his linemates ", says GM Parise. Chris Stewart and Sergei Samsonov and Matt Cooke have been promoted to their respective lines. Chris Stewart and Sergei Samsonov will now play on the 2nd line with Tyler Seguin. " Both Stewart and Samsonov have shown us that they deserve a promotion and they have earned it, expect them both to be doing some damage on that line with Seguin", says GM Parise. While Matt Cooke has been bumped back on the 3rd line with Eric Belanger, " He will bring some grit on that line and give us a good forechecking game for that line " , added GM Parise. On defence, defencemen Paul Martin has been scratched for the next game, " Paul needs to think about how Penguins play hockey again defensively. We are not great on the backend and maybe he needed a wake up call right now ", says GM Parise. Francois Bouillon has been inserted into the lineup and will be playing with Tom Gilbert on the 3rd Pairing. Pittsburgh Penguins have made some changes, and are optimistic that these changes will turn their season around. If not there very well could be a big change coming in Pittsburgh.
