Occupy Vancouver Protesters

No kidding, it's time to break out the fire hoses and rubber bullets.

I can't really see how anybody watching this from an outside view can possibly support what they are doing anymore. Supporting the Occupy movement is one thing, but supporting what this cat and mouse game has turned into is laughable.

It's time for whats left of the movement to pack it in, you got your message across... good job! Now piss off and let the city return to normal, your 15 minutes of fame are up, your credibility is gone.

Discussions being held at Grandview Park by OV 3.0.

The General Assembly starts at around 7pm. Broadcasting live from Grandview Park:

Grandview Park closes nightly at 10 pm and OV has been advised of this by a Parks Board rep. No tents allowed.

#OccupyVancouver discussing whether they will stay at Grandview. Concerned about upsetting eastside support. VPD also enforce 10pm closure.

Vancouver Park By-Law:

11. No person shall erect, construct or build or cause to be erected, constructed or built in or on any park any tent, building, shelter, pavilion or other construction whatsoever without the permission of the General Manager.

@OccupyVancouver let's hope #occupyvancouver doesn't alienate some of the neighbourhood, too..kids play there, right?

VPD shows up at Grandview Park with parks board GM Bromley to tell #occupyvancouver no tents tonight. ow.ly

by bobmackin via twitter 6:20 PM

And in response up goes a tent:

Things are getting lively as some residents are angry that after a 1 1/2 year renovation of the park - ruin the new grass. Go to City hall and protest. This is my 'hood :D

VPD staging at Venables and Commercial w/ mini-buses, cars. Looks like they may move in as soon as tents are staked. #occupyvancouver

Well it looks like they are going to spend the night at Grandview Park.

Love how they don't support anyone else speaking when they don't agree with what they say, but instead try to drown them out. I guess who cares about freedom of speech.

How the hell can they say they tried to clean up the VAG and make it better when they left it littered with garbage?!?

Did I just hear a drug deal go down?!?!?

Hilarious - the GA has spent an hour going circles and now they have a proposal to go around the community tomorrow at 9 am to get input about whether they should stay and under what conditions from the local residents.

Here is some input for OV - at 9am the vast majority residents in the area are at work to pay for their housing and put food on the table for their families.:blink::blink:

"We should...occupy Stanley Park, because it's going to be blessed by the elders of the Coast Salish. It is federal land":blink:

The only part of Stanley Park that is under federal control is Deadman's Island, a small island off Stanley Park is the site of Vancouver's Naval Reserve Division HMCS Discovery.

The rest of Stanley Park is under the authority and control of City of Vancouver by way of lease and administered by the Parks Board - in fact the Parks Board offices are located in Stanley Park.

As noted:

Land that remains solely federal at Stanley Park, not leased to @CityofVancouver, is HMCS Discovery naval base. #OccupyVancouver

by bobmackin via twitter 7:56 PM

Fact: @CityofVancouver renewed its 99-year lease from the feds for Stanley Park in 2008 at $1 per year. #OccupyVancouver

by bobmackin via twitter 8:04 PM

@CityofVancouver & Squamish Nation signed MOU in 2010; tribe chose #Olympics $ over land claims talks. #OccupyVancouver vancouver.ca

by bobmackin via twitter 8:08 PM

These OV types do not seem to have the slightest clue about this issue or any number of other issues and they just go with whatever idea pops into their heads at any given time.
