Observations from tonight.
1st Line: Sedins looked okay, great on a couple shifts. Hansen does not belong on the first line, the skill level just isn't there. Yes he got a goal, but it was an easy 2-on-1 tap in from one of the best passers in the league. Time for Burr to get back up here.
2nd Line: Higgins has been meh, he hasn't scored or done anything in quite a few games. Burr needs to be with the Sedins. Kesler is clearly trying but he just isn't there yet.
3rd Line: I think this line needs to get back to Hansen - Lapierre - Higgins. Booth and CoHo have developed some good chemistry and trying them with Kesler again might be a good look.
4th Line: Pretty much invisible, though they didn't play much. Volpatti hasn't looked very good.
Defense: Must must play better.
Schneider: Ehh... looked pretty bad tonight. Lack of goals or defense didn't really help either.
Sedin - Sedin - Burr
Booth - Kesler - Hodgson
Hansen - Lapierre - Higgins
Weise - Malhotra - Volpatti
Those are my proposed lines. Some winning consistency and scoring needs to happen, we can't solely rely on the PP, especially in games where we don't get very many.
A) 1st line: I still remember the recent Ducks-game. Burr played with the twins for the first 2 periods: nothing (good) happended, down 4-0. Hansen played with the twins in the 3rd: 2 goals and +2 or +1. So let Burr get back with the Sedins only when either 1) he's fully recovered from injury/sub-par play and/or 2) Hansen doesn't deliver or 3) Hansen is needed more on the 3rd or 2nd lines.
keep Higgens as the go-to guy, having his own line (a.k.a. away from Kesler), could be with Lapierre / CoHo / ...
C) in general encourage rather than discourage CoHo, who's still a rookie and hopefully our future = effecient development that'll allow him to learn from mistakes and successes
D) keep Booth and CoHo together for now
E) Might consider giving Kesler a 1-game rest as he seems to be trying too hard and maybe still injury-hassled. It's essential to have Kessler at 100% phys. and mentally for the Canucks to win the Cup.
F) Defense: meetings within group / with whole team, Is Tanev doing so well in AHL, that he could give this team a boost of youthfull energy and confidence ?
