Los Angeles - This has been an interesting day from the standpoint of Los Angeles fans. One that many are celabrating already. Nicklas Backstrom, an aging veteran goaltender who had been less than inconsistant for Los Angeles was sent to San Jose in return for Steve Mason. Mason, who comes cheaper and also fits the teams quest for youth, posted a 2-1 victory in overtime in his first game with Los Angeles.

General Manager BananaMash spoke on this and more at todays press conference:

"We chose to continue with Garon against the flames for one reason, he was on a roll. Sometimes you need to ride the hot hand, even though Mason was anxious to get in to play net"

"We're happy with Mason's showing in his first game here, however we were dissapointed in the lack of offensive support he received. A win is a win though, we're not going to complain too much".

Another move out of Los Angeles today was the signing of RFA Prospect Stefan Legein, General Manager BananaMash took a moment to speak on why they signed the RFA, who had been left to sit for a while:

"We had planned to keep Legein all along. However, when it became apperent that Kozun was going to be part of the Backstrom deal, signing Stefan to a contract became much more important. They are similarly skilled right wingers. Stefan is a bit more defensively sound though, where Kozun was more of a playmaker. With Linden Vey developing, and our current full house of Playmakers such as Robert Nilsson, Kozun was expendable for us."

Recent Los Angeles Highlights:

1) Ruslan Fedetanko scores his first goal this season.

2) Robert Nilsson gets his first assist as a Los Angeles King

3) Steve Mason gets his first win as a Los Angeles King

4) David Rundblad's two point night.

Recent Los Angeles Lowlights:

1) Garons run comes to an end.

2) Gagner and Ryan not showing up for games.
