Should we look at this boy?

A tournament called the Spengler Cup is running on Eurosport just now and a young lad who showed up well against team Canada was a 17year old called Nathan Walker. Born in Wales and raised in Australia, he is the first Aussie to play for a Professional Ice Hockey team.

He plays for HC Vítkovice Steel in the Czech League. 17 seems to be pretty young for a professional to me. The fact that he has travelled half way round the World at the age of 13/14 just to enter a European Hockey programme speaks volumes for his character.

Would we consider a boy like him and would he have to be drafted?

He is draft eligible in 2012, last I checked he was 6th in Czech prospects, so he is at least on the radar of some scouts. Couldn't hurt to spend a late round pick on him

I was expecting a far more disturbing thread based on the title.

If an Australian gets drafted by any other team I may be torn.

Really hoping the Nucks pick up Nathan. Vancouver is probably the most supported team down under largely due to so many Aussies going to Whistler and Big White. Would be good if we can pump up his tyres a bit here on CDC and hopefully get him noticed. Good luck Nathan the hockey eyes down will be watching come draft day.

Never heard if him but he seems like he could

be something.

I guess I now want both him and Jujhar Kharia.
