McBackup
The people who thought they had to cut out someone's heart every day or the sun wouldn't rise and the crops would fail? I'm sure they're right about the end of the world though.
butters
A coincidence to look up as well is that there is another cycle called the procession of the equinoxes that also ends close to this date. The previous ending of this cycle coincides with the end of the neanderthals and the beginning of the cro magnons....Interesting right?

MoneypuckOverlord
It marks an end of a era, and a beggning of a new era. It's quite sad these Mayans will not live the day to see such day.

Tystick
The "Doomsday" theory is nothing more than an overly advertised rumor. Ever since that movie was released, people became increasingly more aware of this silliness and unfortunately many people take it too seriously, but hey, at least the film crew made a profit right?... The Mayans, along with many other cultures all share a common prophecy of a "shift of the ages" or in other words consciousness. The just of this is that on December 21st 2012, our present way of living will come to an end. A collapse of our government, economy and social structure will take place, but not in a scary way. According to them, polarity consciousness will cease to exist, which would actually be a very beautiful thing. Starting on December 22nd 2012, humanity will start to become increasingly more conscious of the harm we are doing to ourselves, each other, and the planet. Whether it happens or not, it's all very interesting.
