Wow, really? You don't remember his absolute collapse after that goal?
I don't think he would have had much issue with it, but the media went nuts, and so did the city. he got put in a fishbowl because of that one goal, and that one goal was very likely what ended his career before he even had an injury.
Clouts had great reflexes and decent positioning. But he was mentally very fragile and could get rattled easy. Either by a bad goal, a bump in the crease, someone chirping him etc. He just couldn't stay focused on the game, and it was likely BECAUSE he was such a battler. When he got fired up, he let in bad goals. Unfortunately, he'd get fired up for all the big games, and tense moments. Hence why he had trouble in the playoffs, and why he had a panchant for letting in 1,2 or even 3 goals in the dying minutes of a close game.
I liked him, and I felt bad for him when he got traded, but had no illusions about him. He had skills, but never had the mental strength to really take a team anywhere.
He's the reason I put such a question mark over Luongo when I see mental breakdowns.
