These rumours surrounding the Canucks + getting a top level forward (Turris at the beginning of the year, Perry, Morrow, Bobby Ryan at some point (maybe that was last year) & now this) makes me think GMMG doesn't think that Burrows is a top-line player.
Now, don't get me wrong, I think Burrows is an excellent player & he brings so much to the team. I know GMMG would never trade him & that if he was traded some serious chemistry would be destroyed, but last year he was on pace for 55 points, this year 56 - playing with two 100 point guys. Those are great 2nd line numbers and great for a defense-first grinding forward, but really he isn't an intimidating force & and sometimes in a series the line gets shutdown (Chicago two years ago/three years ago, Boston last year, Anaheim under Nonis), so maybe GMMG is looking for a forward AV can put there when the line goes cold..
Burrows had a great year 2 years ago 35 goals/67 points, but maybe the line has been found out a little bit and maybe that worries Gillis.
Having the option of going:
Sedin - Sedin - Perry/Morrow
Higgins - Kesler - Booth
Burrows - Hodgson - Hansen
If the line is being shutdown would be grand.
However, if he doesn't find that forward having Sedin - Sedin - Burrows is still a stellar line.
